Hello all, I got my Taco a little over a month ago and I and really enjoying it so far.

After a wash today I found these brown spots on some parts of the paint. I tried removing them with a clay bar and I saw a post to try alcohol but had zero luck.

Have any of you had this issue? How did you remove them? Any recommendations?

That looks like pieces of rail dust rusting under neath a clear Xpel strip. You would have to remove the clear strip, use iron x, wash ,wax and reapply Xpel film .

I can't see yours well enough to be sure, but I used Iron and Fallout remover on two white Fords at work. It worked.

Rust from your brakes. Clay, fine paint polish and a wheel [carefully] will remove them, then wax well.

The rail dust would have been there when the dealer Installed the film, I don’t think it would have gotten in some how.

I guess there is no way of knowing, I didn’t see this when I purchased the truck.

I might give this a try, hopefully it works. I saw a video on YouTube that Iron X works as well. Do you recommend this product as well?

Same thing on mine, my truck is ceramic coated, its certainly not rail dust trapped in there as someone else mentioned. Mine was like a brown grease glob that I noticed on the truck when I started washing it, well after washing the glob away that is what remained. I took Carpro IronX, Tar/BugX and a clay to it with no luck, its almost like the grease stained the film, which is weird since my truck is coated in 2 layers of CQuartz UK as well. Took it to my detail guy who said he's never seen that before and said only solution would be to polish it and the coating off and reapply, its a truck its hardly noticable, just gonna let it be for now.

Nope, didn’t work for mine either. It’s a stain not an embedded contaminant.

That looks just like it, damn that sucks that non of that worked. I was going to try the Iron X, I’m glad you replied before I bought it.

Have you done anything to remove the stain? I wonder where it’s coming from, I got the truck a little over a month ago and have these stains on the passenger door and the lower back of the truck.

No luck man, detail guy said only way was to polish it off and I'm not ready to burn through a recently polished/corrected truck that was just coated back in late Feb. It's definitely road grime of some sort, mine was a glob of grease or oil or something since I saw it before I washed it off, stain was what was left. Its enough out of sight only I notice it and since my truck was coated its not harming the paint or anything so I'll let it be until my OCD kills me or the truck is ready for another coating. But ya your gonna have to polish it off and then of course top with wax, sealant, ceramic.

It looks like the film was applied over the rail dust. The spec of metal is very tiny untill it starts bleeding rust.
If it stains then the coating doesn't seem to be doing a great job. From all the hype of coatings you should be able to wash it right off the surface. If its staining then its thrue your coating and into the clearcoat. What brand coating did you go with? Any warranty with the coating job?

Wow, even with ceramic coating eh.

I met up with a member who had identical truck like mine but white. He had similar spots on his, must be a super white thing as its a 2 srage paint.

My ceramic has been great so far.

Incorrect the coating acts like another clearcoat just because it’s stained doesn’t mean it’s through the coating and the paint. It’s CQuartz UK 3.0, 2 layers. OPs isn’t coated and same thing. Only CP does a “warranty” and it’s marketing hype, doesn’t hold water when you read the fine print.

Coatings definitely live up to the hype. But it’s not a magic force shield around your truck.

I just remembered I did see something on here a while back about some kind of tire dressing causing these same kind of stains on lighter trucks. I think it was tire dressing or the tires blooming or something like that. Looked very similar. What brand of tires are you guys running on your 2020s?

I used that on my truck for the first time this year and it works great. You can see the orange spots melting off and turning blue/purple. Quite satisfying
