Original tires - OK or needs to go

Hello all,

I have a 2nd gen with about 7400 miles on the odometer that has the original OEM Bridgestones on it. What is your opinion about the tires on it? Does that look like dry rot on the treads and it is pretty much done or can I get some miles out of it? Side note - it was sitting in a enclosed garage in Vegas for the past 4 years.

Sidewalls look fine - I am not sure though.

You have a 2013? I would replace 7 year old tires no matter what they look like.

 

those stock tires are garbage anyways. Get a nice set of coopers or toyos or whatever and don't look back

 

I replace mine every 5 years , don’t care if they still look good.

Are you saying your 7 year old truck only has 7400 miles on it? Shame on you, drive that darn thing. Just saw it’s was sitting 4 years. Old tires are old tires replace them.

 

They look fine visually. But tire manufacturers limit shelf life to 6 years from date of manufacture (on sidewall). Would not take the risk of running a tire older than 6 years.

 

The shoulder treads appear to have some cracks. I would replace them.

 

id drive them tho i would NOT drive them hard

nor would i tow with them at all

age/time is a factor to tyres & other components on a vehicle

I have a hard time believing it was just sitting there, was it salvaged/rebuilt? Anyways after having an old tire blow out on the freeway I always replace them when in doubt.
