Show me your highway terrains

Need new tires. I don’t off-road. Stock truck 265x70x16. Buying from Tire Rack. Guy at Costco guy quoted me $800 for 4 tires installed (lol). The one good thing I picked up on was him saying to watch out for SUV tires. It will make the truck look whack. My current ATs have that bubble that bows out from rim to tread. Can I get that in HT?

 

Since the original OEM BF Goodrich All-Terrains came off my truck early because I hated 'em in 2004, I have run nothing but Michelins. Michelin-X in 2004, Michelin-X in 2009, and the current ones that I bought in 2014, Michelin-X LT2s. Stock size, but within that size they manage to be a very beefy tire that I never felt the need to upsize. I highly recommend these. They last a damn long time too.

 

Is there any way to get these tires blackwalled, without the white letters?

 

Usually they are blackwall on one side and white letters on the other. Just tell the tire shop you want the blackwalls facing out.

I agree with the above. I thing that the Michelin-X LT2 tires are the best that money can buy. Maybe $100 more than other brands for the set of four, but well worth the money. They have more than enough off-road traction to get me where I'm going (usually among a lot of roots, rocks, and ruts) and run smoothly on the interstate. If you have time left on whatever you're running, you might want to hold off for a couple months while you search around for the best deal. I'm a Discount Tire person myself, and saved $150 on my set. And I keep the inflation set to 36 PSI.

I have the LTX M/S2 on my Nissan. I wouldn't buy any other tire for highway use.

 

I've got Toyo Open Country H/T in 265/70R16. Quiet and smooth ride, good wear (so far), good rain performance. They see occasional dirt/gravel road duty, but nothing more than that. I've only had the truck for a little over a year, and these tires were fairly new when I got it, so I don't have a good basis for comparison.

They are not a directional tire.

Discount tire just quoted me $1,042 for a set of 4 with their BS warranty hahaha. My neighbor works in the industry and is quoting me for 4 Falken HTs. She said she’s gotten 70k out of them no problems

 

Gees in 2014 I only paid $695 out the door with lifetime road hazard/rotation at Costco. I like Discount Tire but I had them put a set of Michelin Defender LTXs on my RX350 back in March and they were $1024 for 18s out the door with lifetime hazard/rotation.
I think you were over-quoted for 16s.

 

Michelin is king, but for better cost effectiveness I push Yokohamas. They are perfect middle ground.

Have only ran BFG TKOs since new. I had the originals on for about 3 years and then the BF all terrains the originals for about 13 years. The newer BFG TKO2 terrains are alot softer and decent on the highway. Will see how long they will last had them about 3 years now. Only 3rd set of tires 150k miles 2002.
