Fluid pump suggestions for REDLINE quart bottles

anyone have any
good hand pump suggestions for the quart size redline gear oil bottles. Ive got a few different kinds but none of them fit well. I thought about trying to get empty clean gallon sized and transfer my quart sized to that?

Also is it a big deal to use same pump for different oils (ie diff fluid the transfer case then manual transmission oil)? I know there isn't that much residual but still.

 

I use the slippery Pete pump off Amazon with the redline gallon jugs. I bought one for each weight. Yes it’s probably overkill and I have excess oil sitting in my garage, but it’s much easier and cleaner. I gave up on qt bottles, they just aren’t easy to work with. The slipper Pete pumps do a good job of getting most of the oil out of the jugs too.

Yes, I have that fluid pump (doesn't fit well on quart) as well but unfortunately I already have all of my oil in quart bottles not the big ones. Next time I'll definitely go with the gallon jugs. I am with you though as in having different pumps for different weights... overkill as well probably.

Hoping someone has a good solution figured out for the quart sized redline.

Just buy the gallon jug for this time around and you can refill with all the quart bottles you have. A little more $$ upfront but you save yourself the headache.

Redline quart bottles have been a problem since day one. I'm convinced it's their secret plan to get people to buy the gallons lol

 

Sounds about right. You would think they would make an adapter to sell for more income

I wasn't paying close attention and got a fluid pump for a gallon jug instead of the quart. I wasn't in a position to go out and get a gallon, or find a pump that fit.

So I cut the threaded top off the fluid pump, cut a hole in the lid of the quart bottle, and pressure fit it to the pump mechanism. Wasn't the prettiest, but it worked as good as a hand pump can.

 

Pick up some 5/16 clear vinyl tubing. Drill 2 5/16 holes into the cap. Push clear bundle tubing in all the way to the bottom of the container. Compress air goes into the other hole. I do 10 PSI and it will only take a few seconds to drain a quart

Is that Gl-5 oil for your manual transmission? IIRC, Toyota calls for a GL-4 to avoid damaging the brass syncros.

This is the one I bought & used a few times. It’s nice that it has the odd double cap so it fits 2 different size bottles. Never fails, doesn’t fit the bottles you got. Luckily I had some bottles it did fit. Made a mess transferring even with a funnel. Pump away, bottle gets a suction & won’t pump. Unscrew some, try to pump, unscrew more and more and more, now it pumps, the bottom slips out and makes another mess. I think it took about 70 pumps to get a quart pumped. My attempt to not make a mess using half and full sheet pans helped a little but I still smelled like gear oil after.

 

Those hand soap style pumps are god awful I started using this and never looked back, it drains a quart in 6 pumps.

Cheap and effortless

 

I have to change the oil on my Tacoma soon so I plan to save one of the empty quart oil bottles then clean it out very well. Then when I change my differential gear lube, I will just pour the Redline gear lube into the oil quart bottle and use the pump on that bottle. Easy solution.

 

One other option is to use a parts-store bottle pump and a cheap spray bottle. Pour the Redline in the spray bottle and use the bottle pump.

I recently changed my differential and transfer case fluid for my '12 Tacoma using redline gear oil.

I tested this pump out. It fits very snug into the opening of the redline bottle causing a seal. The seal and pump action is so effective that the redline plastic bottle was crumpling due to the change of pressure.
When the pumping gets alittle bit harder because the plastic walls of the bottle don't crumple as easily as a bag, just lift out the pump alittle to let in some air in the bottle.
There was hardly any gear oil left at the bottom of the bottle.

I was very satisfied with this pump, and I think it solved the redline 1qt bottle pump problem.
