I agree. Great tires for a fair price. I’ve had three sets that went over 50,000 miles.

I have Toyo AT2's. They are pretty loud and have poor snow/ice traction, but have been very tough and dug me out of some greasy mud pits. You can also get them in load range C. It seems like most AT and MT tires are mostly E range anymore. I second the Michelins for DD.

I second this exact tire. Nice off road tire so far, and the C rated ones have a soft ride. I lost a little wet pavement traction compared with stock, but much better road tire than the mudders I’ve owned.

I know that it seems like everyone criticizes tire threads but for some reason I read every one of them ! :). I guess I am a sucker for a good tire discussion.

Great posts in there with lots of good selections, including tires I wanted, tires I looked at, etc. In the end, I went with the Nitto Ridge Grapplers. This is my second set and they seem to be the perfect spot balancing an aggressive look, good on the highway and capable off road as well. Price is not bad either. I really wanted to look more closely at the Toyos but they were not available.

I love the Falken AT3s. I have them in 265 70 17 and they are awesome, great on the highway, wearing very well, hold their own off road!

Cooper AT3 4S. I have over 50k on mine right now and they still have a good bit of tread left on them. They handle and ride like road tires, have a bit more aggressive look, and perform outstanding in rain, snow, etc., and anytime I've taken them on trails they've never disappointed. Regardless of what you do, pay close attention to the weight differences. Some suggestions above are MUCH heavier and that will impact your MPGs and butt-dyno. Worth it if you're spending a lot of time off road, but doesn't sound like you are.

TRD Baja Kit with JBA UCA's 1/2 inch spacer on top, Medium Dakars with BAMF hangars and super bumps all around. 285/75/16 Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT's on graphite TRD faux beadlock wheels. Pro skid powder coated black with Pelfreybilt aluminum mid skid and aluminum gas tank skid.
I was in the same boat and wanted 285's that weren't too heavy and didn't break the bank. My commute on the highway was a big concern and why I didn't choose a heavy mud terrain. My choices were Duratracs (owned several sets on my Jeep) or the new Cooper AT3 XLT's because they were both around the same weight. I never had any issues with my Duratracs but decided to go with the Cooper's. I've got just under 30k on them and they've been really good and quiet for what they are. They've been great offroad and wet traction is awesome. I don't have the 4S version but they are comparable to the Duratracs in the snow. I will probably get them again.

Probably going to ask a dumb question without doing much research on my own. Where did you get the TRD center cap for the stock rims? Love the look.

I’ve been running SL Falken AT3W. No loss in fuel economy. 56,000 out of my first set. Awesome all around tire.

Why not ko2s? They look aggressive and silent on the hwy. They also perform great offroad and have a pretty good thread life. No other AT tire offer such beefy lugs on the sidewall. Toyo AT3 would be my second choice and durartacs 3rd.

I think its an excellent tire. If they offered beefier blocks on the side, toyos would be my first choice. For now its bfg ko2s. Getting 265/70/17 in c load next monday, cant wait.

Nitto ridge grapplers. Super silent and It's gone done well in every terrain I've been on, except for thick mud, which I avoid.

I used to run Bridgestone dueler A/T Revo on my Silverado 2500 HD Duramax. I went through 2 sets of them over 5 years. They gripped well year round and were reasonably smooth and quiet on the highway.

As soon as I use up the stock michelins on my Tacoma I'm going to get some for it.

I've had a set of these on my F150 for 9 months and am extremely pleased. Mine are an E rated tire, but they make them in lighter duty tires. They are quiet riding, do great in mud and wet pavement. We didn't get any snow here this winter but they are snow rated so they should be good. And they were nearly $400 less for a set than BFG. I will go with the same tire for my Tacoma when it needs tires.

People seem to hate on bfgs. I had no problems balancing mine and they have been a great tire. I guess they are so popular, people just need to bitch about them. There is a reason they are popular.

I would say 7 out of 10 of off roaders are running ko2s in my neck of the woods.
