i also have a viair and it has been very reliable and effective.

i used it to add air to my tire everyday for a month (long story) and it was a life saver.

I bought the Smittybilt 2781 Compressor and changed the air chuck to standard air chucks.

That is the only drawback to these japanese air compressors they come with a non standard air chuck.

I bought a Rolled 1/4 hose and use a ARB digital tyre inflator/deflator.

Works great. I really wanted the ARB portable dual with the 1 gallon tank. But 800 bucks.

    Maybe for christmas lol.

Hard to beat this portable compressor. Just research the ratings.

Just remember with these Amazon Compressors the Air Chuck is basically proprietary. It will not work with standard air chucks.

Eh, I disagree. ARB is proven to withstand the elements and also has great specs as far as it’s duty cycle and CFM.

That said, I ditched my dual arb for a tank of CO2 and no compressor can even remotely compare to it. But that’s apples to oranges.

Love these forums. Always looking for recommendations. Just a casual offroader, camping mostly. Does the viair 88 compare to the single arb? Worth under hood mount setup?

I have not looked much at the ARB. I know the Viair site gives flow rates at various pressures and dimensional details. I would imagine that ARB does also to compare.

The 300P is the next step up in flow rate from the 88P. It is fast.

For a hard mount you do want automatic operation. See my thread about that if you go with a non-automatic model.

Are you talking about the Viairs or another brand?

The Viair has a standard industrial pneumatic male fitting that worked with all my existing stuff. The chuck end itself was a bit wonky and not my preferred connection.

No, but to be fair it’s also 1/4 of the price. The 88p is the best bang for the buck inflator when it comes to duty cycle and CFM. I’d say it’s good up to 33” tires.

    I am not sure tbh

I know most of the Amazon compressors use the Japanese fitting. There easy enough to swap out but some of them don't even run a 1/4' hose.

I have a 60 dollar GSPSCN sitting next to me that I got on Amazon and it doesn't even have a air chuck on it. It's all air stem screw on.

The Smittybilt I got did come with Air Chuck connectors but they were non standard. As I said there easy enough to change out as long as the hose is 1/4".

I had the Viair and now the Dual ARB. The Dual ARB is plenty fast for the amount of times I need to refill my tires. ARB ran just fine in 110 degree heat.

    Ah! I see.

I am very careful with the Amazon stuff. There's a few of the international brands that seem to sell compatible stuff that I can semi-trust.

    The Viair are made here.

Can you please explain the CO2 tank. Did you got a tank from a welding shop or something and put a line and fitting on it and just turn on the valve to fill?

I have a powertank system. It’s a tank of co2 with a regulator on it with quick disconnects to hook an air hose up to. I get mine refilled at a welding supply store.
