So triggered for no reason. Why are you making yourself a victim of something that never happened?

To be fair, he asked a question, not assumed. Go back and read his triggering post if you don't remember.

The only one assuming here is you, believing he meant it in a sexist way. Not every male out there has a negative/sexist/condescending view of women, and if you choose to live your life with that perspective, that's your own problem. I didn't even realize you were a female until you brought it up since i pay almost no attention to usernames/user pictures.

You doubling down with every post certainly isn't helping yourself though.

    I literally asked exactly that:

“if you’ve ever shot a big game animal and field dressed it?”

    Lol

@btrumpatori, see what a shit storm you started just by asking a simple question. ;)

If you don't want the legal hassles of protecting yourself with a firearm then just don't get one. And most likely there will be some.
Having children around negates the quick and easy access. At least for me. All my firearms are in a safe due to this as I may not be home when one of the grand kids show up (and grandkid meaning young and not $1K for you immature live at home with mommy/daddy morons, LOL).
Chances of getting slaughtered by bad guys are not equal to a child getting killed by easy access to your firearm.

My choice would be a .357 double action only wheel gun. You can stick it in a bedside table drawer and pull it out when you need it. It’s dead simple, you pull the trigger until it goes click. If there’s a misfire, you don’t need to rack the slide to clear it, you just keep squeezing. There’s no possibility of it Jamming. There’s no safety or slide release or decocking lever to worry about.

I think everyone's first handgun should be a revolver. A 357 is a good choice, because you can train with 38 specials.

Even a 22 revolver isn't a bad starter gun, and some hold 9 or 10 rounds.

As stated 9mm and shotgun, 20ga won't have as much recoil as 12ga, specially if the wife will be shooting it also. Small stand up fire proof gun safe with combination, bolt it to the floor, can also store other documents in it. Keep eye for sales at any outdoor stores. Your local ranges can usually offer beginner to advanced classes.
