The OR is awesome. I wanted one. But right now there running at such a premium that I could not justify the sticker price let alone the Out the Door Price.
My dealer was unwilling to negotiate because there were so few OR's on the lot that he knew he could get the asking price and then some.

I am not trying to tell this guy to "downgrade" But the 2020 SR V6 4X4 is a well equipped base truck.
The prices on them are far better because there are more of them on the lot. It's a lot of bang for the buck.

I am adding a ARB Rear Air Locker next month. Ordered it from 4Wheel parts. I don't really need one but I want one.

Pfft ... totally disagree .. capable ? The sr is basically the cheapest truck You can buy . It’s designed for street use that’s it . The higher trims are more expensive because they are designed for off road and street . The amount of money it will take u to make the truck better will just cost u more in the long run . Plus it’s still a sr in the end . Resale value on it is going to be crap .

I have a feeling that this is going to lead to a argument so I'll just leave this alone.

You're right, my SR 4x4 V6 sucks and I shouldn't go off road with it.

    There see all better.

If the dealer is going to give you that sell it yourself for what they would sell it for and pocket the difference.

I wouldn't trade for an SR, but i'm vain and want to look good going down the road. I made sure to leave the TRD Off Road decals on the bedsides so basics at Starbucks know.

I missed that this was for an SR. Even if they paid me an additional $2000 plus trade, I would still decline. No offense to those with SR or SR5, because if I didn't already have a Sport, that would be good way to get into a Tacoma, at a reasonable price point. I just feel it wouldnt be worth it to trade down and lose all the bells and whistles that I have grown to love.

The price difference between the same configuration of SR5 and Off Road is only about $1800, if you install a locker you would end up spending more and still be missing features.

You can get a Sport or Off Road for around $1800 more than the SR5 making them a good deal for all the extra equipment.

So they will give you what you paid for your OR 32.5. The SR is going to cost you 32.5. What you haven't said is how much you still owe on the OR. You would have to finance 32.5 - what you have paid off in 2 years and reset the payment clock to whatever the years of the new loan.

Now if you own the vehicle outright. You then are getting a new vehicle with the lower trim level. for basically your OR + tax/license.
Only you can determine if the Access cab with the 6' bed more suits your need. You must have had a reason for the OR you purchased in 2018. What changed.

I for one would not do it. But I tend to keep vehicles 8-10 years.

I had a Access cab Tacoma back in 2006. It was a good truck. My truck now is a crew cab Frontier. Love the extra in cab carrying space.
