    Hi everyone,
I kmowticed that the factory mud flaps are on the stiff side and can inhibit ground clearance.

I dont go off road much for trails and the like but do drive in deep snow.
Has anyone had any problems with snow.getting wedged and inhibiting being able.to move, as in deep frozen pockets of ice and stuff.

If i skip the mud flaps aside from rock rails which i plan to go with over the factory step bars what else would you use or recommend for protecting the bottom sides of the trucks body from rocks, sand ect from attacking the paint?

    Thanks everyone

The Mudflaps will rip themselves off if they get caught on something

The front flaps broke off my truck after 3 years. I took what was left off as well as the rear flaps and trashed them. The truck is 13 years old with no paint damage. In fact I've been driving trucks and SUV's off road since the 1970's. My Tacoma is the only vehicle I've ever owned that came with mud flaps. At least 95% of the other trucks and SUV's sold in this country don't have them. Never had any damage on any of those vehicles either.

Body and paint damage is caused by tire/wheel combo's that push the tires wider than the fenders. If you do this mud flaps won't help, you need fender flares to contain mud and rocks. As long as your tires are inside the fenders you don't need them either.
