Good morning, everyone!! It's a chilly 46F here this morning - heading into the mid to upper 70s today. I'll check the porch this morning to see if I want to put on another light coat of paint, maybe cut a little more brush and then spend the afternoon at the pool. Ahhhh, the stresses of retired life. :D

    Good morning folks.
Deck looks good Mark, nice color choice. How many rocking chairs can we fit on it and still have room for the cooler. LOL
We may be heading up state this afternoon depending on what the vet says about the grand dogs leg. He lunged toward another dog(not out of anger but wanting to play) and I am hoping he didn't damage the plate and screws or bone. He is now gimping around on 3 legs till we get him there. Hoping for the best. Have a great day folks.

PLEASE SEND COLD AIR! Outdoor air conditioning would be appreciated..... Even our city tap water is getting warm. We had a huge red sunrise this AM that is due to all the smoke in the air.

My wif is complaining that there is no cold water to wash her clothes!

Only 99 degrees today in Elk Grove, down from 111, I’ll take it. Problem is all the smoke and particulate matter in the air from the numerous wild fires here in California. Almost all started by lightning. Went out this morning and everything was covered with ash, looked like it snowed lightly. No fires within 50 miles of us but the air quality is really bad. It’s almost like a light fog, people are driving with their lights on. Other than short dog walks I’m not going out. Another day of hanging out inside reading books and watching movies. Maybe I’ll sit out in the garage and clean and lubricate my guns for the hundredth time or check out my fishing tackle for the thousandth time.
Stay well and be safe all.

Evening all! Have to admit, every time I think about joining in this thread, I can't find it, and get side-tracked. Well, I remembered to watch it, and now I can. This is the welcome I found when I searched - seemed fitting. So, you all mind if I join it? Two years ago I got "pretired", and just after I had purchased my retirement Tacoma. It was a surprise, but my boss gave me a raise, a bonus, next years bonus, and a years pay to go away. So, I did. Before any more BS, here, I brought some beers like I am supposed to...

    20200731_172150.jpg

I've spent some time finally getting adjusted, had solar installed up on the roof - removing the trees out front, messed with the truck a bunch, and this year, finally got after some "make home nice again" projects. It's darn hot here in Texas, so I am glad to have mostly completed the main projects; new fencing, new shed, new green house, landscaping that goes with it. I farm out and pay for project I can't do myself. Past month it was replace all the pool pump plumbing, pump and motor, and then epoxy the well worn deck coping. Now, I'm finally down the list to "stuff", and then the bottom of the list is "putz". So, I hope these kinds of old fart qualities will let me have a seat on the porch. Example of tough "stuff" today - recycle a fence board and repurpose it to be a manhole cover for an old garden waterfall basin!

So, I hope I can hang around....

I hope the grand dog is OK, Ken! No need to worry about space for the rockers - the back porch is 3 times the size of the from so we have plenty of room. Might even need to add a second cooler so we don't have to walk so far!

Welcome to the thread - and the porch, Kurt!! I like you taste in beer. Grab a rocker and join in!!

I put one last light coat of stain on the front porch and cut some brush yesterday - took the weed eater to the grass inside the apiary, too. Still need to clean up the brush but Lynn and I are going to chase a golf ball around the grass for a few hours this morning so I'll probably wait until tomorrow to clear the brush. Can't stress myself out too much at my age.

Be safe and enjoy the day!!

Upstate PA for the weekend. A comfortable 50 degrees this morning and good sleeping weather. Neighbors said to watch for mom and her cubs wandering the valley. Bear sightings around us are common but we have never had them on our property. Have to keep the dogs leashed when out for a walk. Have a great day folks.

Good morning all. Another day to be thankful for. I have had a shoulder pain, right shoulder, for a few months now so I went to the doctor and turns out I have tendonitis. Not too much pain just a PITA. Physical therapy today at 11am. If there is no wind I think I will burn the tree sticks in the fire pit this afternoon and enjoy an iced coffee by the pond while burning. Tonight will be sausage and peppers on the outdoor griddle. Might throw on some chicken wings too.

What are your weekend plans? Right now for our family it will be trimming back 7 holly trees along the back yard property line. In the evening we have been binge watching Yellowstone, for drama, and Community, for comedy. Stay safe and have a great weekend.

Morning Tom, do you do Grub Hub deliveries? I sure could use an order of good sausage and peppers. I'm up near Bloomsburg PA. Lol . A bit to far huh. Enjoy the afternoon. I have watched all of the Longmire episodes and started watching Yellowstone. Another favorite we watched was Bosch. Running out of shows and movies during this virus crap but I have now become a you tube addict:D. Have a good day.

    Welcome Kurt.

I was born in Cuero, raised in Yorktown, and currently live North of Leander. I drive through Lockhart every time I go down to Yorktown to visit the siblings.

Good morning everyone, and thanks for the welcome. I'll sit back a bit and learn everyone, and hope to visit often.

Good to hear about your dog, Ken. That's always good news. We got our first dog after years and years of cats (I'm the cat guy). But after we lost our Cuda cat last year, I agreed to let the wife find a dog that fits our not so big home. New Years, she got a rescue Terrier Mix we call Rex. He's a semi-trainable ball of energy.

    (He loves his RexRaft!)

Y'all have a good Friday. Either going to mow, or repot some plants. Haven't decided yet.

Big rain storm rolled in last eve - lots of dust and lightning - but little water. Made for some flash floods around the area - but gone in a flash too. Danged sidewinder ended up on the back porch, must have been due to the wash out back getting some running water...... We've tried getting the pups trained in snake avoidance, but they still take too many chances when excited.

Dunno why this weeks 100+ afternoons feel so much hotter than last weeks, but they do! Not even as humid either. Showered after mowing, got inspected and ran errands, then have been napping in the sunroom ever since!
I'll get in the pool after I repot some plants tomorrow!
