6112s run $600-700 per set but I do not know what their MTBR (avg service life) is; that price includes new springs. My understanding is that rebuilding the 5160s would cost almost as much as a new shock so cost-prohibitive. I read on 4runner forums that 6112s are not rebuildable but have not confirmed with Bilstein.

Can they be purchased without springs? No clue.

I know the 6112s have digressive pistons.

Oh yeah, I have nothing against 6112s. I was actually trying to order them except the 5160 rears were out of stock at the time and I ended up researching icon/fox/kings and paid a little more for the Icons. I wanted a digressive shock since I do 90% street driving and my off road is slow technical trails where the digressive shock provides more dampening. 6112s are kind of an intermediate step between the 5100s and the "big 4" IMO.

I've seen them on sale for as low as $559, but that didn't include shipping. So realistically you're looking at $600...but again how much of that cost is the springs? Id be curious to hit up Bilstein and ping them on a few of these questions. 6112 are digressive.

So the 5160s are not valved differently from side to side. It's just that the driver side 5160s ships with a brake line extender bracket. There was a shortage on passenger side 5160s but not on the drivers side so some guys were just ordering two left side shocks ....they're still the same price.

Hundred bucks to have your oil changed? When you say oil change, does that include the thumb in your ass to check your own oil?

If you go get your oil changed with synthetic, that is what it cost. or right around it. That is why I started changing my own.

Always change it myself. Don't trust the stealerships. Get the filters off Amazon and oil from walmart for like 32. Mobile 1 0w20 and put it on the lift at the hobby shop. So maybe 45$?

Smart. I know 2 people who have had terrible experiences at Jiffy Lube. New BMW first oil change, forgot to replace the plug, totaled. Other friend got a rag left under his hood that caught fire lol.

Enough derailing the thread lol. Sorry OP

I fired off a handful of tech questions to Mike Ritchie at Bilstein. He usually gets back to me right away. Did get an Out of Office reply for today but he should be back in tomorrow. If he's not too buried with emails maybe I'll hear back by Tomorrow afternoon.

Will follow up with you guys on that.

Where did you get non resi Kings from? I once asked a shop if King offered non resi versions and they said no... whats the price difference? Is it a 1st gen only thing?

Edit: according to Kings website it is a 1st gen only thing

I have the fox setup and have no complaints. The truck looks good and does what it is supposed to do. Plus, the build quality is top notch and everything feels so solid.

I have Icon Stage 1, and I raised the front up to level about 2 inches. I had no issues with using stock control arms or getting alignment. I'm running 265/70/17 tires.

I also went to Big Bend Ranch State Park and did some offloading this past weekend. The Icons performed flawlessly.

6112s looking like a pretty damn good option based on that info...sustainable and cost effective IMO

Awesome truck. Would adding the single leaf (instead of the 3 leaf AAL) give it more of a leveled look? It looks like your front is slightly lower?
