    I'll get some up soon, I wanted to detail her first. The dealer put some kind of shitty tire blackener on her and it slung all over the side of the truck. I almost told them not to wash it... I did that with my second gen, don't know why I changed my mind.

    The Grabber AT2 is a good tire I'm just not really a fan of the looks, I liked the look of my KO2's on my second gen a lot and the beefy sidewall was nice. No doubt the grabber AT2 is a great tire though.

    Weathertecs are supposed to be here Thursday. That was probably the single best thing I did to my second gen. I hate carpet floor mats.

    I admittedly used to Crossfit, then I found out I was straight, Now I just workout... Imagine that.

    True story.

    I find that just lifting compliments my mountain biking better. I actually do more of a power lifting mixed with traditional strength/conditioning routine now. I want to start racing more and the routine I'm on now works much better for me.

    My time in the gym is spend mostly doing squats, deads, overhead presses, bench press, sled pushes, pull-ups, KB, push-ups etc... My cardio comes on the trail.

    The 70's had jogging, the early 2000's had Crossfit. Man has always had strength and conditioning. AKA the original Crossfit before it was "cool." Crossfit simply took "strength and conditioning," gave it a cool friendly name and tried to make it a sport, thereby ruining it in the process. Strength and conditioning is not a sport, it's something athletes do to get better at real sports.

    Got the Weathertecs today. I'm liking this truck more and more every day. The engine seems to have ample power, it feels to me like its got quite a bit more ass than my second gen. It seems like it gains and looses revs way faster than my 1GR did. I have a lawn business I operate as a second job so once a week I tow a 6x10 trailer with a commercial zero turn in it and this truck absolitely tows it as well or better than my second gen.

    Thinking about having ALCAN build me some springs to support the extra weight. I never plan on lifting the truck too much and I would like to be able to utilize the stock suspension components as much as possible, so I'm thinking of having the springs built for stock height but able to support a lot more weight. I figure if down the road I want to lift it a little I can buy another leaf.

    I'm going to wait until I get my bed drawers/sleeping platform built as I want to be able to give them some pretty exact weights.

    Once the platform is build I plan on leaving it in there forever (one of the reasons I'm using Starboard) as well as leaving the topper on there, so I figure even without gear I'll be driving around with atleast an extra 500 lbs.

    I've always thought the leaf springs in these trucks were too soft anyway. They make the truck "ride nice" for people that don't want to own a truck but I don't really care... I grew up driving my dads 3500 cummins DRW and I ride around in a fire truck for a living... You wanna talk about stiff springs.

    I'd like to be able to take the topper off easily and I really wanted to like the Can Bak but aside from the ease of putting on/off and light weight it really doesn't provide what I need. I need something more weather resistant as well as secure. I want to be able to leave my gear for hours or days without as much concern it will walk off. Not to mention Can Bak is asking retard money for the new tops... 2 grand for a rag top is fucking stupid.

    Did you make any decisions on the ALCAN leafs? I'm in a similar situation where I'll be using my 2017 Taco overland and don't really want to change the stance... just keep from sagging with additional weight of 500-800 lbs... if possible. Appreciate any other inputs from folks on here.

    I just ran across this thread, I forgot it even existed lol. I Figured I’d do a Four years 100,000 mile update, 105,000 aukshally. Some things changed, some things got accomplished, some got altered, some got added.

    For most of this time life got in the way and pretty much nothing got done other than this truck got a ton of miles put on it. I drive about 30 miles one day for work and also do a lot of hunting so the vast majority of those miles are highway miles. I plan to start keeping this thread updated and paying attention a little more as some cool things are going to start getting done over the next year and into the future.

    > My wife and I recently adopted a yellow lab. We are dog people and were eventually planning on getting a dog, just not quite yet but we found the right dog on accident and weren’t leaving him behind. Being that he’s such a cool dog, I want to take him everywhere, however, I want to keep the interior of my truck in decent shape and I want him to be safe. I searched around for weeks for a non custom option to keep him in the cab, however, due to the small dimensions of the extra cab I ended up taking my idea to a welder/fabricator; we drew up plans and everything should be done in a month or so.

    I ended up removing the rear seat and panel and it will be replaced with an aluminum box, about 2/3 is dog box and 1/3 is going to be gear storage.

    > I’m currently working on plans to have the same welder build me a set of custom aluminum drawers. My plan is to have a water tank, pump and second battery integrated all together in one unit that can be lifted out as one. The frame and drawers will be aluminum with the top being will be 1/4 or possibly 3/8 thick King Starboard with reinforcing crossmembers every foot.

    > For a topper I’m not looking at the RSI SmartCap and Alu Cab, both are very similar designs with similar features. I really wanted a Norweld flatbed and Camper setup but at 20k my wife was already drawing up divorce papers.

    > I managed to get almost 70k out of the stock good years. I know a lot of people hate these tires and while they aren’t what I would spend my money on, I actually had good luck with them. I don’t do any kind of super hardcore off-roading but I do take my truck offroad a lot for camping and hunting trips; I thought they performed fine in Florida terrain to include some mud and I never had a sidewal puncture. They have been replaced with 265/75/16 E KO2’s which are now them selves getting close ish to time to replace. I will likely be replacing them with either the same size KM2’s or maybe going to 285’s.


    > At 100k it got Fox 2.5’s up front and 2.0’s in the rear with Deaver Stage 1 leafs. I’m pretty happy with this setup overall but it needs some tweaking. I went with the standard travel 2.5’s in order to keep my factory UCA’s and save money. I had the shop that installed them adjust the preload for 2” of lift which quickly settled to 1” of lift on the passenger side and about .75” on the driver side after a few thousand miles of driving. I’m not ready to already be buying UCA’s and I believe my preload is nearly maxed out so I’m probably going to order a 1/2” and 1/4” top plate spacer from Headstrong in the meantime. When I do tires I’ll probably do the UCA’s and also pull the coil overs apart, remove the internal spacer to turn them into extended travel and go with a longer/heavier (maybe 700lb?) spring. I figured being an extra cab with no armor, winch or bumper I wouldn’t have any issue getting the full 2” of lift on the regular 650lb springs but apparently I was wrong.

    I absolutely love the Deavers. I currently have kind of a ghetto overland setup put together using some 32” rigid job boxes, a pelican cooler, two Sceptar water cans and a stainless sprayer. All together it weighs just under 300 lbs with the cooler loaded with ice, full water empty boxes. With the boxes loaded I’m probably pushing 400 lbs. These springs seem to handle best when approaching max weight and handle heavier loads just fine. I will however, likely have to upgrade these again depending on what my drawers/topper comes out to. I’m thinking likely a stage 2 or maybe even 3.


    ETA: 5.29’s are also in the near future, even if i keep the 265/75/16 tire size and if I can figure out a way to either convince my wife or hide 7 grand, a supercharger or OV TT kit. An OV tune is also absolutely happening here shortly.

    Is there any lift left in this coils? They're Fox 2.5 Standard Travel (880-02-361). I'm not sure how many threads were showing from the factory and I'm not sure how far they can go as I didn't see in the manual where it stated how many threads or how many inches of threads could be shown, just that they were adjustable from 0-2 inches. There is a solid 1" of difference between the driver and passenger side and from what I can tell after speaking with Fox, both coils are maxed out. The Fox rep I spoke with said there could be a max of 2 1/8 inches of threads showing; both sides are already technically over that with them both being adjusted evenly at 2.25 inches of threads per side.

    I took them to a buddies shop to get them installed that I thought had a reputation for solid work. He did not personally work on my truck, nor inspect it as he was out of town, however, it looks like one of his employees did some real shit work as upon inspection one of the holes in the collar is wallowed out to the point of it being useless and there's some damage to the collar where it clamps. It appears that despite taking it to a "performance" shop and despite Fox clearly stating in the instructions that they should be placed in a spring compressor to be adjusted, it appears they either adjusted them on the truck or off the truck but not in a spring compressor.

    I purchased the coilovers from @HeadStrong Off-Road (great people) and was under the impression that they would provide 0-2 inches of lift on a second or third gen truck, were preset from Fox for 2" of lift on a second gen and 1" of lift on a third gen, however, could be adjusted to provide 2" of lift.

    When I took the truck in to have the coils and leafs installed I initially didn't inspect them or take measurements upon picking it up; the weather was shit and it was pouring outside and from what I could see the front was definitely lifted two inches, maybe more and I knew the coils would settle. What I didn't know was how much they would settle. Over the course of about 2k miles they have settled considerably, especially the drivers side.

    I already spent what I can on these for a while. Looking back, yes, I should have spent the extra $700 and gotten UCA's and the extended travel coilovers. My original intent was to replace the internal spacer in these when it was time to rebuild them, making them extended travel, do UCA's, bump the front to 3" and replace my 265's with 285's. 2" was perfect for my 265 KO'2 that I'm currently running, however, at least on the drivers side it seems like getting a full 2" is going to be a problem.

    Some notes about my truck:

    > I have approx 350-400 lbs constant weight in the bed of the truck, with most of it evenly distributed or even a little rear heavy.
    > I have no weight in the front of the truck such as armor, dual battery etc.

    Current Measurements:
    Front Driver: 21.5"
    Rear Driver: 22.5"
    Front Passenger: 22.25"
    Rear Passenger: 23.5"

    While I didn't measure before, from what I can from reading around on here a stock 3rd gen TRD Offroad usually measures about 21" in the front and 22" in the rear. So with these set where they are I've gained 0.5" Lift on the driver side and 1.25" of lift on the passenger.

    Ended up ordering ordering some Eibach 14" 650 lb coils from @HeadStrong Off-Road. Hopefully this solves the problem and gives me a little room to spare as down the road I'd like to install an SSO slimline hybrid bumper, LED bar and winch.
