I'm sure there is a post of it somewhere but I can't find it. I have a 2015 4wd DCSB and it just started making a clicking/sharp rattle sound. Heard it today backing down my driveway, so I pulled back up and heard it again. Drove it maybe a 1/4 mile and it got faster but went away shortly. Once I pulled back in my place it stopped. Drove again, and it did it a couple times and hasn't done it since. Everything is tight, heat shields, front and rear driveshafts are tight, CVs are in good shape, boots are good at least. Doesn't have an issue shifting or going in 4wd. Haven't had it very long, new to the tacoma world. Sure its a common thing. I greased ujoints and it seemed to go away but came back. Only happens when I take off, don't hear it after. Im on 35s. And truck does have exhaust, so hard to pin point.

Grease your U-joints. If it goes away, you've found the problem.
Edit: If I were checking the U-joints, I'd pull the driveshaft to feel how they move. They should be smooth.
Greasing them won't fix the problem, it just masks the vibration.

Its not an engine noise, and I'll check the ujoints today at work, i did grease them and it seems to be more inconsistent so maybe I got one binding. Also gonna lift rear off the ground and check rear end components.

I'm with the consensus that it's your u-joints.

    Glad you found it!
I had one that was ready to fail once, it vibrated bad enough to shake the front left cv out of the diff. The cause was that the grease zerk got knocked off and flung all of it's grease, which I attributed to trail damage.
