Recently added some power and felt my clutch slipping. Any recommendations or first hand experience on clutches? I’ve already replaced my clutch one time before at Toyota. I have about 120K on my truck now.
    This is my daily driver
I off road MAYBE 10% off all my driving
    2008 SR5 Tacoma 4.0L 4x4
    I’m guessing MAYBE 300 hp

Considering a flywheel combo if anyone has info on that too.

    Thanks in advance

I bought a OEM Aisin kit. came with throw out bearing, disk, and pressure plate. Had my flywheel resurfaced by a machine shop. and I replaced my slave cylinder with Aisin brand. Cant go wrong with all OEM stuff

I am also looking at a clutch for my 2006 ... 2.7 work truck. I normally would buy original equipment but 350$ seems a bit high. The Aisin equipment looks similar to original equipment. About 150$ Since this is a forever truck- I would like to hear what I SHOULD stay away from, or nightmare clutches.... i know they are out there. BTW I do my own work- so taking it to someone is totally OUT of the question. Joe in Ohio

I would definitely get a clutch disc that is rated to hold the additional power you're making. A stock replacement isn't going to last long trying to hold 300+ tq.

I'm running the URD stage 3 in my v6 6spd and their lightweight flywheel. It's a great combo, but they also make a heavy flywheel which would probably suit you better since you off-road occasionally. The cheapest option would be to get the stock one resurfaced.

I'm running a Luk in my 09 2.7 right now. It was only 80 bucks for the clutch kit. I replaced the TOB and pilot bearing that came with the kit with an OEM one. I also do all my work myself. I have read about issues with trucks from the factory with Luk clutches, but this replacement kit has been solid for me for about 10k miles now. I am not sure how longevity will hold up, but I figure it was cheap enough, it was worth the gamble. I think Aisin was OEM equipment, so that would be a safe bet to save money too

This was the option that I’ve been looking at with the HD flywheel but it seems a little more pricey than other options. Don’t want to stay OEM this time around.

Don't go cheap on the clutch, you only want to do it once. I went with an Advance Auto clutch kit, and their TOB quit after 1k miles.
If you remove the flywheel, use new bolts. Keep in mind that they are 12pt...

URD is out of their clutch kits and my clutch is now slipping. Any other recomondations? Shying away from stock because of over sized tires, more weight and a SC.

I have a spec 3+ with URDs lightweight flywheel. I really like the setup. As already mentioned, get new flywheel bolts as they are one time use.

URD has ARP bolts for the flywheel and pressure plate that can be reused. A nice upgrade over the stock one time use stuff

Get something better than OEM since your supercharged.

I have mine at just over 900 miles and it's starting to feel really good. Was very grabby for the first 900 (think the clutch master hydro bearing has a quick engagement making it hard to slip) and it continues to be a very noisy clutch when slipping it into first or reverse.

I'd do it again though I hope the noise will clear up a bit.

It gets a lot better. Mine chirped for around 1200miles. I babied mine, and still get some chatter in reverse.

Why’d you go with the light flywheel? I was thinking about going with the heavy because I heard it’s better for off roading.

I have the URD stage 3 with heavy flywheel. I like it a lot compared to the oem setup. No need to wind out the clutch as much to get things going. Much grabbier and crisp. I would recommend this setup but if you don’t off-road or have a heavier truck you could just get your oem flywheel resurfaced
