Hello all. I just bought my first Tacoma (a 2017 SR5 Double Cab 5' bed) in May 2020 and have since relocated from FL to NC. Off-subject the truck has been amazing on the rough roads getting to some hiking trails although I need to invest in some mud flaps!

I thought the FL sun was brutal but not compared to what I moved to. Unfortunately the home I am renting has no garage/carport and the property is heavily treed. My poor truck gets so dirty sitting under the trees, I bathe her weekly, but my concern is the upcoming Fall season when I understand those pine needles falling on her will eventually carry sap and I do NOT want that crap on my truck. The hood of my truck came with a vinyl type protective "decal". I didn't realize it until I went to wax her and wondered why the hood didn't get slick and then the wax stuck to the edges and took extra work to get it clean. I need one for the top of the cab but I called the nearest dealer and the service tech said he didn't think they made one for the cab.

I am looking at physical cab covers but my concern is that the cab is so high, especially with the "shark fin antenna" and being an older woman I am afraid I wouldn't be able to get it on and off very easily. Likewise I cannot access the entire top of the cab to give it a thick waxing (although I can pay to have this done).

Suggestions for best protection from the sap and also the falling acorns? Do they make the vinyl stuff for the top of the cab? How easy/hard are cab covers (not the entire truck, just the cab) to get on and off? Thanks in advance for your guidance in helping me protect my pride and joy.

I live in the mountains with lots of trees so I have one of these. Just get heavy duty cover. Mine has latest 10yrs so far and I get lots of snow. They also have metal top carports .

Thank you for replying! I am renting so I cannot put up anything permanent or that is too large for me to move later when I find a permanent home. I had looked at those metal carports but I can't ask the landlord to buy one just for me when he doesn't even have one for himself. I can't believe people up here don't have garages! A few carports here and there, and I have seen a lot of these. The green "tent" style, is that like one of those pop-up canopies people have at the farmer's markets that can easily be taken down? I've got to have something I can take with me when I move. Do you have a link where I can look at it? Is it called a pop-up garage? Assuming that is heavy-duty tent type material.

Get good at putting on and taking off a car cover

They do make large instant canopies but no idea where or how much?

That's what I wasn't sure if I could do especially with the sharkfin antenna for it to catch on trying to take it off.

So does anyone know if they make that vinyl stickon covering for the top of the cab? As I stated the hood has one and it is protective I suppose, was hoping for something like that for the top of the cab.
