It's probably a wheel balance issue. Take it to where you purchased the tires.

Lol I had a tech take my truck and he was doing 110kph in a 50 zone. Needless to say I was shocked. We had already gone on the highway and he felt the vibrations at 120. They checked tires, said everything was good and said that’s how all Tacoma’s ride. Not sure if that’s true or not

I also have this issue, 2020 sport, noticed it from day one. Have been to the dealers (yes, multiple dealers) and they say “normal tacoma ride quality”

I was sure it was shitty tires so after they swapped them and it didn’t work, I bought good winter tires and same issue. This spring I got Michelin defenders with the pro rims. Identical issues. All the tires have been road force balanced so I think it’s safe to rule out tires lol.

Where should I start looking now? Hard to believe that factory drums/rotors are not good. Both dealers I have gone to don’t seem interested in helping. Wondering if I should start looking into stuff myself? What can I do to help eliminate the vibrations?

Anyone being told this is normal is being lied to. My highway speed varies between 75-95mph and I have never had a hint of this. ‘19 TRDOR on factory beadlocks(factory wheels were fine too) with the factory TRDOR tires.

Not trying to bash you, but a road force balancer is not necessary, and not really sure what you are saying about Michelin tires. What the OP needs is a shop with knowledgeable technicians. There are a number of things that could cause a vibration and there is not a specific tool that will diagnose it.

    Not feeling bashed brother. Lol.
It is a forum for discussion.

Cheap tires are not molded correctly. The bead, belts, and tread are not always put together in perfect relation to each other.

I have seen this with my own experience over and over.
I am not saying this is his problem, only that it something to look at as a possible candidate for what he is describing.

I have seen road force balancing eliminate vibration several times. Again just my experience but that is all I have to offer.

I never have a problem debating my ideas, and when we work together we can get alot of things figured out pretty quickly.

There could be a multitude of things causing it. Unbalanced tire, uneven tire wear, misalignment, seemingly smooth road that isn't, etc.

However, another thing to consider is the suspension tune itself. I don't know how bad your vibration is, but my TRD Off Road has a slight one at highway speeds, but nothing that concerns me or is dangerous. My GMC Canyon with the Z71 package (equivalent) also had the same thing. On the other hand, my Ford Explorer at work and my fiance's 4Runner (SR5) don't have the same vibration at highway speed. I know the TRD Sport has more of a road tuned suspension than the TRD Off Road, but I don't believe it is quite as road tuned as an SR or SR5. Just something to consider, especially if they're telling you everything seems normal to them.

A new vehicle should not have vibration issues. Tell the dealer to fix it. Escalate to corporate if necessary.

That’s exactly how I feel, I don’t understand how this is such a widespread problem that hasn’t been addressed. Especially since it has been happening since the second gens.

I guess I should elevate my complaint to Toyota Canada. Not sure exactly who to contact about it. Talked to two dealers that both say it’s just how these trucks are.

I have the same issue with the passenger seat. Drives me crazy seeing it out of the corner of my eye. Prior to my suspension, wheel, and tire mods the truck did this after about a 1000 miles. Took it to the dealer and they said they found nothing unbalanced or loose with the seat. Same issue starts around 70-80 mph. I also have this same issue after the mods, so this is most definitely a seat/harmonic vibration issue. Dealer is useless, and now they just say it's the bigger tires which have been balanced multiple times. Help!?!?!

If it is harmonics unbolt the seat and install rubber washers at each attachment point between the frame and body. Nothing fancy. Heck a hose washer might fit. You’ll completely change the frequency of any vibration. Cheap and easy and if it doesn’t work you’re no worse off.

Yeah no mods for me I actually upgraded to 2020 pro rims and Michelin LTX defender tires in hopes that it would eliminate this. Considering having a 1 piece drive shaft made to see if that helps. I doubt it’s my rotors or drums because It doesn’t get any worse when braking

Don’t really wanna just throw money at it though, should be my dealer trying to figure it out

Yes it should. Contact corporate. And give us the dealer name and location. A threat to their bottom line is all most businesses understand today.

Look at it this way. The loss of one sale will cost them more that it will to make things right.

I once bought a set of tires that the tire shop tried to balance several times yet they still shook...just at different speeds. Finally dumped them and got a set from another manufacture...problem solved.

same here but ONLY on bfg ko2's, no other tire gave me more issues trying to get them balanced correctly, the dealer I use has them as close to being ok
that they've ever been and that was by RFB.

regarding the thread, all tacos I've owned shook a bit as the do many,
    many, many others.

Yeah, well this being my first tacoma after owing many toyota 4wd pickups...only my 2001 tundra had some minor shakes. This tacoma is very smooth as far as any vibrations, or shaking goes. However it does ride harsher than past trucks, but is slowly getting better, or i'm just getting use to it.
