cant hurt to try that’s for sure. Maybe I put in a disclaimer that the customer also need to bring a piece as a trial run. I’ll probably make an ad soon and will take it on when I got more time. Just curious if any of you are doing it already.

    Stationary Sander Question

I am looking to add a stationary belt/disc sander to my shop. Currently, Rockler has Jet units on sale (10% off) so I think now is the time.

I don't own any Jet equipment, but from what I hear, they make decent stuff.

    I am debating between 2 machines - JSG-96 and JSG-6DC. Both have a 6"x48" belt. The smaller one has a 9" disc, 3/4 HP, and 110V. The larger one has a 12" disc, 1 1/2 HP, and 220V.

I have 220V in my shop, so that is not an issue. I anticipate using the belt more than the disc, but that may change. I think 3/4 HP is sufficient, but more is always better.

The table in front of the 9" disc is smaller, and appears to be not nearly as solidly mounted. (Like cheap plastic.)

Does anyone have any real world experience with either of these?

And any suggestions as to which one to get?

    Thanks.

I guess depends what you are doing but id rather have over power than under. I had a Jet tablesaw I bought it used but its was a workhorse. If you have lots of big projects id go big

For those of you that have not experienced the joy derived by changing the knives on an older style delta planer, A 10 pound sledge hammer might not be the recommended tool but it sure is the most satisfying.

needless to say I’m in the market for a new Lunchbox style planer if anyone has a suggestion.
