When i ordered my 2020 sr5 i requested the dealer that it be built in texas. While a tacoma being built in mexico may be alright for most....just my first hand experience with products manufactured in mexico in the past left something to be desired. Except for the rust issues with vehicles built over in japan, imo they are built with better quality, and care than our u.s. ones. My brothers 84 4runner worked great, so did his 96 rave4 that were japanese built....only problem was rust....and i guess to some extent you can still say that today with these trucks built here in north america.

I think they can run synthetic right away because there's no flat tappet cam to break in. They went extinct mostly in the 80/90s.

I would wipe it up and put cardboard under it to see if it leaks more of what you found like others said. Simple to do.

As to 5k oil change I plan to do the same. I've always done what manuals said for the more severe service recommendation. Why, my drive to work is only about 8 miles and I do other short trips during the work week. With covid I'm home on the weekends more and so more short trips. My previous vehicle, a Jeep that was a diesel made in 2006 recommended 12,000 mile oil changes on synthetic oil for normal driving or 6,000 for severe service. I always did 6k. The Tacoma manual is similar with 10k and 5k if you meet some conditions.

For breaking in I've never had a brand new vehicle. Seems like I'm doing that right. I been avoiding hard breaking. Not towed the camper yet. My driving had been a mix of city, back roads and highways at all different speeds. At 900 miles I'm almost done with that.

Imo, they must be already run/broken-in at the plant to seat the piston rings.

The butthurt is strong with some fanbois. Lol

What does a sudden stop do that's bad during breakin?

I believe that has to do with the rotors being new. They haven't been through a couple of heat cycles yet and they aren't bed in properly yet. It's similar to when you replace the brakes/rotors.
