Why not one of them little Japanese Kei Trucks like a Honda Acty or Subaru Sambar if a Tacoma is over kill?

or get a side by side and make it road legal?

I am sure a courier will be a decent truck but I would wait a year or two to let them get the bugs out

In that kind of heavy load situation, yes. The Powerstroke made more torque when in boost, but less HP, and was also far less reliable. The V10 had instant torque, but fell flat on it's face above 55mph or with any kind of towing load.

Best bet is to find a bunch of used 1st Gen 2wd Tacos.

A 2rz with either transmission and the simplicity of 2wd will just about run longer then any of us will be alive. I say 1st Gen because the older 22re trucks are long in the tooth. Reliable but getting old. The 2nd and 3rd Gen aren't bad but aren't made as good as a 1st Gen.

I'd run the shit out of one of these to 400k miles over a new Ford Courier.

In typical Tacoma World fashion, the guy wants a compact simple vehicle and the conversation is comparing V10 Super Dutys. Or to a Courier made like 4 decades ago.

Once you buy a new Courier, you will need to get some plastic traction surfboards mounted in the roof and a lightbar. Also need coilovers and Dakar leafs to be in here as well.

It was a big deal to a bunch of us that owned v10s at the time. If it was a early v10 it was puking plugs then if it was a later v10 every shop was breaking those fuckers off left and right even at proper intervals. Ford repairs would call for a new head at $$$$. Then when all the tech tips and repair kits came it calmed down alot. Out of the 5 of us that bought them, not a single one ever bought Ford again. Funny enough my son bought a 19 f250 so we will see how that goes.

that's actually better than my 2019 Tacoma recalled for sudden, uncontrolled braking and a bad fuel pump!

I would assume they will be used for light duty work since he had a fleet of Tacomas and Rangers.

Since he is interested in a car based Ute, heavy offroad or raw power really wasn't in the menu. But I won't speak for the OP

No one says I'll take the Courier with a diff lock and some bigger wheels...

I also owned one of those V10's. By the time it was due for its first plug change, the info about the ejected spark plugs had become known, so they were installed with a bit more torque. I traded that truck in with over 200,000 miles with no mechanical problems. I have a 2019 F250 with the 6.2L for work. It's...not been a problem free vehicle.

You call the 6.0 “junk”, but don’t even mention the 6.4.
