That >8,000 lb. winch is a waste of money.

No one told you to buy a Harbor Freight winch.

I challenge you to find a cheap atv winch like you keep mentioning exists, that has a duty cycle/line speed even remotely comparable to a proper sized winch.

I"d love to see that! I had an '85 Celica with a 22r-e. Slow, but indestructible. Healthy torque band for a little motor. Sounded like a tractor.

Orville can't keep up with the popcorn production needed for these challenges and then the sewer system may have a hard time dealing with the aftermath

Oh look, if it’s a Marlin or a Mog, complexity of gear reduction is cool.

Consider me humored how pilots of internal combustion engines with auto transmissions, transfer cases, ATRAC, anti-lock brakes, and satellite navigation find two double pulleys too complex.

I just saw a decent looking first gen 4runner sitting on the side of the road with grass growing around it. I looked, but no sale sign. I love those classics!

And like, actually stuck. Not pulling it along on a flat, smooth ground.

My buddy has the 1st yr of IFS 4runner it's in really good shape and looks really nice. He's in the middle of some shenanigans with the engine.

Your comment is flawed. “Pilot” is giving most drivers too much credit. In addition, all the things you named either are used to simplify an operation that is deemed too difficult for most drivers (shifting gears, threshold braking, etc) or has been misused (following GPS into a lake).

Two pulleys isn’t too complicated for some of us, it’s just not as practical as you’re trying to make it sound.

And like actual climbing rope not actual amsteel winch rated rope since that's what the OP says is the best.

Have you recovered a stuck Tacoma, or other vehicle with this setup?

I have 3 snatch blocks that I would use to increase the pulling power of my winch, but not so I could max out a winch that's too small for vehicle recovery.

I find myself humored that anyone who would spend $300 on a rope would consider a winch a waste of money. Between your baby winch, and a proper rope, you're at or near the price of a properly sized winch.

Again, let's see a video of this proposed contraption in action.

He's not even using the proper rope for the job so..........I just want to see the video of him using that rope to recover and watching how much it stretches and then completely running out of pull on the winch.

The rope would probably break since he uses it for 100s of other things.

You got a point it's probably got tons of ground in dirt, chaffe marks, and has been stretched one too many times.

In the OP's defense, he did state "vast majority" of Tacoma owners have no need for an 8k winch.

You guys in this thread are not the vast majority. You guys are the exception. Most Tacoma owners do not even come close to how you use your Tacoma's.
