Attention: DO NOT use Dobinsons Grease bolts in the Hammer hangers or any other bolts than the ones Archive Garage supplies with the kit, M14 class 10.9 with top-lock nuts.
1.The length of other bolts are likely to be too long to fit and could jam into the "tube" area of Hammer hangers, jacking the shackle tab away. This will void any warranty assistance.
2.The Dobisons kit comes with split lock washer and normal nuts. Split lock washers suck on automotive applications, they let water into the threads and will rust every thing together in a couple years, you don't see them on automotive applications for this reason, except on stupid Subaru front caliper bolts and that's why they snap off at 30,000 miles.

Yea I was wondering if could use the greasable bolt in the other end that's on the leaf? My plan was to just drill and tap the stock hanger on the lower whenever I get around to ordering a set.

I don't care as much about the leaf eye bolt, but look at the picture and you can see where it scraped the powder coat at the top as well before it got trimmed in length, so I discourage it or people really need to be smart about what they are doing.

Incredible thread, totally appreciate all DIY pics, details, and of course thanks Eric for being so patient with all the questions.

So the common consensus about Dakar packs is unless you cut that 2nd/3rd leaf (depending on pack), you’re going to run into issues with the offending leafs jamming into the shackle, so I want to avoid that route and go for better leafs anyways - not a fan of giving OME my money AND having to fix their mistake.

in terms of the Deavers (or other leafs), and max amount of droop/travel, are stock shackles with the poly bushings a solid investment?

My plan until shock relocation is as follows:

    -Billie b110
-correct leaf pack for 2-3” rear lift (u402 stage 1 fits my needs weight wise).
    -HH
-New stock shackles w/ new Bushing from AG so shackle never has issue rotating fully.

let me be clear - DO NOT CUT THE 3rd leaf. It’s the 2nd leaf that contacts the shackle for dangerous/problematic hangup. I cut the wrong leaf (3rd) first time around. Do not cut the 3rd leaf. :anonymous:

The Dobinsons Medium and Heavy (500-800lbs. static load with lift rated) Leaf Springs do not have the 2nd leaf contact issues.

I’ll have to look into these - just want to make sure I’m matching spring length with shackle length to make sure I don’t limit droop/travel

yeah, that is a good setup for travel. The B110S are long and allow droop, but their collapsed length is also long so heads up you might need space your bumpstops or get ubolt flip kit to help, such as Archive Garage Stealth HD U-bolt flip option 4 Super bumps

    Definitely u-bolt flip!

So stock shackles are fine with Deaver or dobinson springs?

Dobinsons 110-R and 111-R springs do not have interference problems and (not having tested mine, and not near LT suspension travel) don't think it would limit shackle flex.

Dobinsons is newer here in the USA market, but they've been around for over 60 years in Australia, and price-wise align with OME Dakar leaf options...but so far (more than 6k on them so far) no obnoxious squeaking, no sagging or "w" shape deformation to-date (Installed May 27, 2020). Also worth remembering is with HH's you don't need/don't use any other bolt for mounting leaf to shackle, especially in light of the interference that was pointed out by Archive this week.

thanks to Archives poly bushings, hammer hangers, Dakar pack & b110. Certainly gets the job done, but I’d like more droop & this is about maxed out for stock shock location & my setup I’m sure

2.5" Fox relocation * Hammer hanger * Archive MD springs
September 1st is the perfect Tacoma Tuesday to introduce Archive Garage's new Hammer Hangers Version 3 (started shipping end of July 2020)

    SPECS:
-Highest clearance hangers on the market
-Hammer hangers have 2 Postitions that allow both optimized location for Deaver, Alcan, Allpro...or stock location for short springs like Dakars (you get to choose)
-Perfectly aligns with leaf springs (just like V1/V2 did, Archive measured the frame)
-The strongest hangers by design and due to HSLA 1/4" steel (30% stronger)
-Best reviews for ride quality improvement thanks to design and ramped front lip
-Best choice for rock duty w/ ramped lip, and HSLA steel doesn't gouge as easy
-Fully compatible with EVERY leaf pack both SOA and SUA that fits in stock hangers
-Archive powder coated Hi Clearance cross tube option
-New 4.0" shackles available, recommended for SUA
(Cliff notes: V3 are a squatty version of V2, plus extra frame holes)
