Who is using REDLINE gear oils for their differentials????

    I am glad you caught that.. The manual says for a 4WD rear diff. capacity is 2.91 to 3.01 U.S. qts. 2WD rear diff. capacity
    3.45 to 3.55 U.S. qts

    Just put Redline 75W90 in both front and rear diffs in my '09.

    I am really happy with the results- I used to get a little binding going around tight corners but now it is smooth as silk.

    I think mine has an open diff since it has auto LSD, but I used the limited slip formulation anyway. Everyone I talked to said that "too slippery" is not an issue with open diffs.

    I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma

    Has anybody used this yet? I have 3 quarts of 75W-85 on order for the rear diff and using the 75W-90 in the front and transfer case just like my manual says. If nobody else is using it I'll try to get back with my results.

    after trying 2 or 3 different setups the Redline was the answer to my LSD rear. I went ahead and added a bottle of additive but wished I'd waited and tried it without. works good and quiet now and seems to hook up well in mud

    Toyota says to use a Toyota WS (world standard) ATF. I put in type four cause some idiot at the part store said thats what I needed:facepalm:
    Oh and I think every 100k but don't quote me on that.

    OK so I have a TRD SPORT 4x4 with an automatic trasmission.... Should I use MT-90 for the transmission and the transfer case????? Or is MT 90 for manual transmissions only???

    Pretty much stock
    MT-90 is a gear oil...never put that in an automatic. I think the auto takes dextron III, check the owners manual.

    MT 90 is Redlines version of synthetic Manual tranny gear oil..
    If you are going to use Redline, use D4 ATF Auto-tranny

    Taken from their website--

    "Our most versatile ATF, use where Dexron III®, Dexron II®, Mercon® and Mercon V® fluids are recommended, provides a GL-4 level of gear protection "

    For those of you that have used Red line 75W90 for lsd. Did you use it in the front, transfercase and rear diffs??? Did you add any additive to the rear Diff or were you fine without??

    You can use 75W90 for all diffs and the transfercase but since I had to order it anyway I followed the manual and put in 75W85 in the rear and have it for the front as well (haven't done it yet). Sorry mine didn't require any additive, my LSD uses the brakes. I have 75W90 only for the transfercase just as the manual suggests also. Redline seems to be one of the only companies around to offer all the different weights in a synthetic oil - that was another deciding factor for me.

    I used 75W90 for LSD's in the front differential, transfer case, and rear differential. I did not have to use any additive for my rear LSD differential and no problems or chattering in 20,000 miles that it has been in. It has performed flawlessly. I called Redline and they said it was no problem using the 75W90 LSD lube in the front differential and transfer case.

    Ok so I just finished. First off I have an 06 TRD Sport with Rear LSD with 44,000 miles . I have been meaning to change the oil for quite some time and finally got around to it. I used Redline 75/90 High performance gear oil compatible with LSD.

    I replaced the gear oil in the Front Diff., the Transfer case and the Rear Diff.

    The Rear diff wasn't too bad, it was dark but not back. The Transfercase was clear. The front diff was without a doubt the darkest of all three, pretty black.

    Anyways... I went ahead and changed it used the same gear oil for all three and took it for a drive. No grinding or shuddering or anything, actually feels like it runs smoother.

    Sounds like my experience. When I changed mine at 15,000 miles the transfer case looked like new oil, the rear differential wasn't too bad, and the front looked really nasty. I don't know why the front would look so much worse than the rear.

    Also, mine felt like it ran smoother with the Redline....

    I have a 2009 that calls for 75w-85, and I'm about ready to purchase that weight from redline. Any advantage of using 75w-85 over 75w-90 or vice-versa. I see a bunch of 2009-2011 owners using just 75w-90 and not the recommended weight of 75w-85. I'm illiterate when it comes to viscosity of oils.
