    Hi,
I somehow started my truck when it was in 2WD with the selector set to 4WD. I got the caution blinking 4wd truck symbol and the 4LO, after minute or so it then comes up to the unable to switch from 2wd - 4wd message and a constant flashing caution. This now starts before I even start the engine. Anyway to clear this message? I tried disconnecting the battery for an hour and that did not work. Still safe to drive 2WD i take it? Thanks for the help!

Did you put it in 4lo and drive for a little bit (straight line if on pavement) and see if that works? And then switch back to 4Hi and then 2wd?

Correct me if I'm wrong: When you parked, it was in 2wd and selector was also 2wd when turned off. When you got back, the selector was in 4wd. Started the truck and the warning happened.

    I had something similar happen.

Not sure if you did the basic: put into park, turn everything off, make sure selector is in 2wd, and start again. Even if the warnings are on, drive a few feet and it should be in 2wd without warning lights. If it doesn't, start over with the selector in 4hi. And then 4lo again if it doesn't work.

I noticed that warning comes on when the selector and actual mode(2wd, 4hi, or 4lo) are not in sync. I had to find the right mode it was on, and then change the selector to corresponding mode. I hope that made sense.

happened in my 2019 automatic. gf was in the car using ac when i went for a ride. came back and she somehow swapped it into 4hi (guess she was reaching for the climate knob). pretty sure i just put it back to 2wd and drove in a straight line and it fixed itself.

if you can drive in a straight line try cycling through all the modes. i thought it was good to step into them every now and then anyway

    Update:

Nothing worked, took to the dealership. Was embarrassed and awaiting a clowning. Turned out the switch fried somehow, replaced under warranty. Good to go.

Switch was probably a bad word. The 4WD mode selector knob on the dash to the left of the environmental controls needed to be replaced. Would the invoice still help? if so I will dig it out.
