We had a power outage last night so I had to transfer some food to my dometic and connect it to the jackery. We filled it with our frozen food and went to bed. In the morning the fridge was off and the jackery was off even though it still had 88% of charge left. This tells me that the frozen food was cold enough that the fridge didn't have to turn on. And after some time with no draw the Jackery must have shut off too. Just thought I'd report back. This info might be useful to some of you.

Everyone talking about battery cycles (Li ion vs LiFePO4). How often are you actually cycling this type of battery?? It’s not like your phone, which is cycling everyday. I would not consider it a big advantage of cycle life with this type of application. I’m only using mine about 1 time a month. Unless you’re living mobile, don’t really see the advantage of 1000 cycles vs 700.

Keep in mind those jackery’s have, I believe, a 3 hour shutoff with no draw. The explorer 1000 is 12 hours.

I agree 24 hours is a good compromise.

I made mine via parts from powerwerx.com. You can have them build it for you through their custom cable options for under $20 plus shipping...just make sure you put the right mc4s on the positive and neg going into the sb50. It’s opposite those coming out of your panel(s).

Sorry - I am just starting this research so I know I am going deep into the thread when I say this, but this thing made me immediately think of the McDLT from back in the day!

just gonna leave this here.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTSdUOC8Kac

I also think that was Jason Alexander's first TV appearance.

    enjoy.

Can any battery nerds tell me what the amp hour of this battery is? I tried to read the website but its jibberish to me.

what I do know is 8 of these in parallel ran an empty dometic cfx45 for 40 hours @ 4 deg C with Room temp was 23 deg or so. (Rough translation fridge @40deg F, room @ 75deg F ish)

Per a couple sites I found, it appears that battery is 6.5AH.

Must have missed that, thank you!

Going to add 2 more cells, so 10 in total. Would that make 65ah? (probably a dumb question)

They were out of a back up power system, 10 cells in series making 120volts. There was half a pallet of them , tech said they were all being recycled and let me have one.

yeah, should be 65AH. Depending on how old and how used they are, that could obviously be less. But as long as they are working for you, sounds great!
