I'd like to see someone swap an LS motor in one.

Yes OP. Even then after upgrading from their 4cyl to the V6, don't ever be afraid to open up the throttle!

:notsure: Most folks don't think the V8 Raptors were slow? Both by Motortrend:

    Welcome to TW!

2.7 will probably outlive the 3.5, i might be wrong though, the 2.7 is working much harder to move 4400 pounds. 2.7 is made in japan, if that matters. Personally i never drove the 2.7, but a lot of folks say its not a big difference. For me its hard to believe since the 3.5 has about 100 more hp.

With that said, i will never get a midsize with a 4 banger. Maybe a mini truck, like older toyotas or ranger, but midsize hell no. I also believe the 3.5 will have a better resale value.

    Good luck!

The 4cyl is just rubbish, in my opinion of course. Enjoy getting on the on ramp of the interstate and trying to get up to speed quickly if need be. Wont happen. Also, sometimes you need just a good, quick burst of power to sneak between traffic. The 6 cyl isnt bad, but I only buy and drive MT vehicles so I dont know the pains of the AT Tacoma haters. Continue the MT Gang with me and others, dont let us die, and enjoy the Tacoma best as a 6 speed MT!

I am sure it was an honest mistake. The only V-4 that I can recall was in a Saab?

My best friend had a 16' mt 2.7L taco and his lease ran out, they gave him 19k for the truck. I mean the thing had a dent on every corner he was in an accident in it as well. To top the whole story off a quart of oil spilt in the back seat as well. Long story short he bought a tundra with the 5.7. I got to drive it last week and the thing fricken rips. The only thing I dislike is the gas mileage. It is horrible. He gets 13-15 mpg. That was my turnoff to them. Fingers crossed the twin turbo in 2022 will be less thirsty.

Oh there will be some mods all right
There used to be V4 motors made back in the day in Wisconsin. They were for industrial use, the one I saw was on a log splitter.

0-60 in 7.4 secs is slow? Really?
Tundra does 7.4 as well, not sure what you were getting at.

I went from I4 to V6, feels slightly more power but it’s not as dramatic as it sounds on paper.

Interesting. You probably notice the biggest difference in higher rpms on the v6?

Hows the low end on the v6 compared to I4?
