I’ve been checking out Craigslist for some factory Toyota wheels. This one listing mentioned his wheels were off a 4Runner and have a more favorable offset when putting them on a Tacoma.

    Is that such a thing?

    thanks!

They probably mean less positive offset. I don’t know about 2014 Tacoma but my 2018 had +25 offset. By going less positive (or going negative in my case) the wheel sticks out more.

    Are the 4runner wheels 17"?

If you still have the stock wheels, your 2014 has +30 offset wheels. Most 4runners (except the TRD Pro and some older models) have +15 offset wheels. So your wheels and tires will stick out 15 mm, or just over half an inch, farther.

The biggest tire you can run on the 4runner wheels is 265/70/17, which is almost exactly the same size as 265/75/16, the biggest tire you could run right now on your stock 16" wheels.

However, due to the tires being pushed out farther, there is a small chance you might have to remove your mud flaps. If you want to eliminate this possibility, you could also run 265/65/17, which is the stock size on the TRD sport tacoma.

    Appreciate the details thank you!

I bought new stock size tires when I bought the truck and had them mounted on 2016 Tacoma rims and just never was happy with the look.

I actually like the 17 inch stock rims that are plain aluminum with large wide flat spokes. I see them on many Tacoma’s.

I might just pull my stock 16 inchers out and switch my tires over to those. :-/

Are you talking about these wheels? Those are a good option and also very inexpensive.

EDIT: I don't think the image worked. I'm referring to the wheels in this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...h-level-kit-and-stock-wheel-and-tires.206530/

You won't be able to transfer your current tires from the 16" wheels to the 17" wheels. You would have to buy new tires. If you already knew this I apologize - just wanted to clarify due to the wording of your post.

Yes, the wheels seen in that thread. I bought the 16 inch tires like the second day I had my Taco. I couldn’t stand the hiway type tires it had so I replaced them with some all terrains. Wish I would’ve waited a month or two to consider what wheel I preferred first. :(
