Any painters here? I’m not one but have questions

There was this dude where I worked that was a tool crib attendant on second shift. He painted these awesome signs with crisp lines and perfect lettering. Always wanted to check out how he done them. Oh and he did them during slow times at work while being paid... anyway we were working on Presidents plane at the time and he painted AF-1 on the PCA window door ledge. Looked just like a model of the plane... Presidential seal and all. It’s probably still around in Andrews AFB, San Antonio or at Oklahoma Cities Boeing. He also painted some other cool signs and he had a real talent for this. He did it with spray paint and some kind of painters tape circa 2010 approximately. Anyway I tried to look up a video on this subject on YouTube but didn’t have any luck finding anything like he could do on there. Not sure I plugged in correct search words... would love to know how to do this he turned out some killer work. Then coated it with what looked like a 1/4” of clear.. not really that deep but it looked as if it was close to that deep and looked great. Anybody here capable of painting like this?
