I’m guessing because it alters the alignment. Hashtag squat lol

It must’ve sucked also to have to put all that stuff back in then get another alignment

Sorry. Maybe I'm missing something. I keep getting notices that they have a safety recall on the rear springs. I actually just got a post card the other day about it. So I was wondering if I need to go have that recall performed. I do have the TSB performed from years ago. I'm not necessarily wanting new TSB springs unless that is also part of the recall.

So you wouldn't have the recall fix done at the dealership?

S if I take it to the dealership for the safety recall you don't think they will replace the stock leaf springs? Is that due to having a lift or because my leafs are in great condition?

Thanks again for your help here!

    When referring to TSB Springs.

TSB Springs are “the better updated springs”

Non-TSB Springs are Original, they are the ones you need to replace.

You can go to the Toyota website and get all the service history on your truck.
All you need is the Vin# and to create an account, it’s free.

I’d go there and see if it has already been done.
If you show no record of it, call Toyota and confirm with them.
They will make an appointment to have the truck inspected.
(This was free, and was actually to see if any had broken)
You don’t need to have any broken springs to qualify.
If however broken springs are found, I believe that they make arrangements for them to be fix quickly, and possibly a loaner car.

Again, it looks to me as if you DO have the TSB Springs.
TSB Springs have 4 total springs - 3 long and 1 short.

If your AAL only consisted of ONE (1) spring, then that would mean you already have TSB Springs.
Or some other aftermarket springs, in either case I don’t believe Toyota is going to help you.
There would be nothing more they can do, you already have the “best” they have to offer.

The only real way to get the answer you want, is to call Toyota and make an appointment for inspection.
Tell them you are getting the Notice in the mail. There should not be any charge for an inspection.

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I thought the TSB was just 1 spring. Now I know it's 3 springs. Again sorry for my confusion. I know I had the TSB done but I will verify like you suggested. If I verify the TSB was done then it sounds like I already have the safety recall fix completed.

    Thanks again!

No, you get all NEW 4 springs.
You get the whole spring pack.

No problem. Always good to ask, it doesn’t hurt anything.

FWIW, you could call Toyota and have them verify the TSB.
That way you won’t get anymore notifications in the mail.
After I had mine done, I quit getting the notices.
They should be able to do this by looking up the service history.
    (Just like you did)

the safety recall was initiated because some leafs were cracking and rotating into the gas tank, puncturing it. causing some deaths...
the tsb, was initiated (years ago) because of complaints of rough ride and bottoming out into the bump stops...

the recall springs have additional clips to prevent a cracked spring from spinning/rotating...

but if you have the two leafs with a helper, the recall you'll get is a new spring pack the same but with the additional clips.
if you had the tsb done already, you'll get a new 3 leaf with helper spring pack.

i had the TSB performed years ago, and the recall was compleated last month. (lost 5/8" in height both sides)
sadly it took 4 months for the parts to arrive because dealer first ordered wrong (pre tsb) leaf packs...

also had to get toyota corporate involved because dealer was sucking wind.
im content with the work, got new leafs again on toyota's dime.
    260,000 ish miles

    Thanks for the clarification!

With the TSB springs, I'm not as concerned about them rusting and breaking, therefore, I'm not sure it's worth swapping them out (doing the recall). If they don't break they can't damage the gas tank, right?

    Thanks again!

The previous owner of my truck had the TSB springs done, and they swapped over the AAL at the same time. Probably depends on the dealership.

welcome to america, the land of litagation...

the NTSB allowed or generated the SAFETY RECALL.
once toyota notifies you, you have a reasonable time period to have the recall compleated.

    everything, is your choice...
but, assuming the worst. and the leaf cracks and you crash and burn...
your lawyers will have the uphill battle to hold toyota liable.

gotta ask yourself, in the words of dirty harry...
    do you feel lucky punk?

for me, i was perfectly content with the TSB springs.
but, brand new leafs for a 15yo truck...
    worked for me.
