I used to live in WNC, I feel your pain. I had dial up back then and was lucky to get 14.4 on a 56k modem :turtleride:

    Nice, where in WNC??

There's cable about 2000' away and fiber on both sides of the subdivision but here we're one notch above smoke signals. Spectrum says call this guy, that guy says call construction, construction says call the first guy and windstream is going through bankruptcy at the moment so they're not answering calls to get lines run. Verizon wireless isn't reliable enough and the others don't reach this area too well. I lived temporarily lived up in a cove nearby (read: banjos occasionally questionable family trees) and now they have 100Mbit service meanwhile I'm two minutes from town and we get 3. I praise the codecs available now, somehow I can stream 1080p and mess around online without much issue.

We'll get to the modern age one day. In finding my dream house in such a convenient location, I did not expect the ball-slap that is 3Mbit with no options.

Sorry for the late reply, I don't jump on here much anymore. Haha I know what you mean about the coves. I lived outside of Asheville, near Canton and Waynesville. Little community called Cruso. Still have family in Waynesville and visit occasionally but not as much as I should I suppose. I miss the traffic there. Traffic was getting stuck behind a tractor or school bus. Traffic here is leaving my driveway.
