In the USA, Amazon is quite popular for cameras and such. In Canada, I have no idea.

If you want an alternative camera to Alpine, most people on this thread got this Natika one.
Great picture quality and FOV. Little pricey, but it was worth it.

I'm sure. But I was typing my backhanded reply at the same time that @TacoBoone replied hat he was "just kidding".

I definitely don’t mean to “hijack” this thread, but is there a setting or anything that must be reset in a head unit to show camera? I’ve got the reverse trigger supplied to the head unit, confirmed it’s getting 12V only when in reverse, and power to the camera, but head unit doesn’t change to camera view. 08 DCLB with a ‘17 Entune premium HU.
    I’m truly dumbfounded.

As far as I know, as long as there is 12V going to the reverse wire, the HU should switch views. Doesn't matter if it's getting a camera feed (would just show black) or if the HU just powered on.
Are you sure you have the right pin? Sometimes connectors ar shown male or female side and so perspective could be an issue figuring out which pin is the correct one.

Here’s a shot of the harness with the rev trigger in #2, top left second from left.

Unfortunately, I have the 2020 and I'm pretty sure the harnessing is different. So I can't confirm with my setup

From this post, it seems like you have the right position, but the picture doesn't load to confirm.

Page 4 of that post has this, so it looks like you have the right one
    [IMG]

    Is this from a kit?

Or that Pin #2 isn't seeded correctly in the connector and it's not making contact when plugged in?

The seating of it was the last thing I could test and rule out, so I butchered the harness and attached the trigger wire directly to the pin. Yes, the harness is from the Camera Source interface kit.

They made me a custom kit: a pop & lock like this:
    https://camera-source.com/catalog/product/view/id/1310/s/10-13-toyota-tacoma-backup-camera-for-factory-radios-opt-pop-and-lock/category/17/

    Then the interface:

Ugh!! Figured out the issue, I had reverse trigger in #2 of 24 pin plug, same pin as video, power and ground for rev. camera. The included instructions with the kit was a little misleading, but I just missed the detail on it going in #2 of 28 pin plug. TTguide.net wiring diagrams tipped me off, there’s some good reading in there!!
Thanks for attempting to help @empty_space

Fellas I need some help here. Working on getting my ABC kit installed this weekend. When I received the kit, only one set of RCA's was plugged in instead of two like he stated in the video, so I think my problem might lie there. Basically what I'm looking at is that no matter how I configure the RCA's I get either front camera displaying with the switch and black screen on rear camera either switched or in reverse, OR I get rear camera only with the switch in front, rear, or in reverse. To the best of my knowledge everything is connected correctly since it all goes to the same color for the most part. Also, using the Natika camera and I'm not sure what to do with the red/black wire set coming out of the little black box on the camera side of that harness. Currently the black is grounded and I tried to wedge the red into the butt connector where the two greens and red from the front camera RCA are connected, but I crimped those prior to running the camera harness so I'm not sure if that red was actually making any contact, but it also had fallen out and the front camera would still come on in certain RCA configurations. Could this be where my issue is? And what do I need to do with that black/red? Thanks in advance. I understand that sounds really confusing, so please tell me if I need to clarify anything.

EDIT: after rewatching his video again to check the RCAs, currently I have the female from the video harness going to the male on the relay, the female from the relay with black stripe going to the male on the video harness, and the other female on the relay to the front camera and I'm getting rear camera on front switch, rear switch, and reverse.

Another edit sorry. Relay does not seem to be switching. Can't feel or hear it.

It's not in the kit you linked since the Natika is a different camera than what he sells. It's the wires at the blue arrow in the picture coming out from the box that is circled green which I learned is a voltage regulator for the camera.

I have not tested the relay but I can't hear or feel it switching. How should I test it?

And I'll test if/when the orange gets power in a bit when it warms up outside.

Figured it out. Picked a bad place to ground. It was dark and I was a few beers deep. Remember always check your grounds kiddos!

Complete wiring beginner here and could not find the exact answer when searching through different threads. If I were to use a momentary push button switch like the one down below how would I go about wiring it to the backup harness? Would I just have to attach the orange video signal wire from the backup harness? Or both the 12v power and orange signal wire?

The idea would be to make this a tailgate "down" detector. i.e. when the tailgate is down the switch will be in the normally on position, the camera will display on the head unit showing the driver the back of the license plate. When the tailgate is closed, the switch will be in open state leaving everything to operate as normal.

Which wire did you guys tap for switch illumination? Preferably behind the radio since my switch is right below. It wasn't mentioned in the video and I've been lazy about it since i originally installed it.

I'm a bit late, did you figure it out? You basically want to enable the relay, so one side of the switch is high, and the other one is to the relay to toggle it
I recently reimaged my HDD so I don't have my schematic handy right now to show tell you the colors

So what’s the difference between the upgraded camera versus standard? Is it worth it to get the upgraded camera, or will the standard camera suffice?
