Morning everyone! Just out of curiosity, who here has a manual and does more off-roading than just dirt roads? I've been watching a lot of off roading videos and, while I love driving a manual, it seems like rolling back the tiniest bit could cause big problems depending on the situation. Someone here once told me using the e-brake can cause the brake shoes to bend

My old wrangler was manual and I wheeled the shit out of it. Smelled the clutch often in the air. My tacoma is auto, and I can say that I love not having to clutch all the time when wheeling.

    Morning all.

Easier to rock the vehicle if it's a manual, cause stuck happens. Either transmission has bene's & drawbacks. My Taco is a manual, my Tundra is auto. Depends what you're doing - but it's a good skill to have regardless.

The first time I got stuck I actually really appreciated the manual. I was able to drive forward in 2nd gear 4lo, and push the clutch in to roll backwards. I can't imagine having to go from D to R in that. I guess I'm guess worried for things like steep hills. There is a very rocky hill by me and I worry that if I need to stop for anything reason, rolling back even a few inches and then driving forward would cause me to lose traction. Thank you for the response though!

I was finally able to finish my main Summer/Covid project last week and grabbed some pics along the way. I built myself a new computer/gaming area with the help of my friend who knows a lot more about wood working than I do. I made the sketches and brought him the design plot with measurements and we worked on it when we had free time to meet up at the shop.

The old Setup. Small and simple but it did the job for a long ass time.

3/4" 13-Ply Baltic Birch from a local lumber yard that I brought to my friends wood working shop to get things started.

LOTS of Clamps!!! Cut the single sheet down and doubled it on top of itself for even more strength, and I wanted to use as much of the wood as possible. It wasnt cheap but it is built like a tank.

A lovely Stain with many layers of Poly seal to protect it from anything.

We used some of the scrap wood along with some nuts/bolts from around his garage to make the headphone stand and capped it off with a Lug nut to stay with the theme.

    Test fitting the side monitors.

And the completed area. It is much more appealing to the eyes and a little bit more of a conversation piece besides "Oh, you have a racing wheel" LOL.

Naw mainly Borderlands 3, Iracing, Dirt Rally 2, and then browsing the internet.

Ive been going to motorsports events ever since I had ears. So some of it has to come home from the track lol.

Great for watching lots of in-car cams during the races also lol.

The wind was so bad that I had to shut the windows.
It's a good thing I didn't buy food in the last couple days. I had to throw out milk, eggs, and shredded cheese.

Can't. I live in an apartment.
A cell tower must have lost power also because I couldn't even use my phone.
