Let's see those Gun mounts!!

Just installed in the PRO!

 

Post the after picture when it takes your toe off! Personally I'd de-cock it driving around with a mount like that. Imagine hitting that hardcore speedbump in front of the mall going over 10mph and losing a toe.

 

Not OP but safety is on. Gun is in proper condition.

 

I think the chance of that gun being accidentally discharged from a speedbump are about the same as a unicorn farting gold bricks.

I do have another concern.

Even the best driver gets pulled over from time to time and I can tell you that an officer will $h1t a gold brick when they see that gun in plain view. If you try to move it as you get pulled over and the officer sees you moving around its almost a guaranteed search and what will they find? When they find it will they will assume you were trying to conceal it or possibly hurt them with it? When everything calms down and even if there are no additional issues the officer is stuck writing some sort of a ticket to justify the stop and search........ who wants that.

A smart person would hold their hands on the steering wheel and calmly state there is a firearm in the car and ask for instructions. This will put the officer at ease BUT your going to get pulled from the car and a 5 minute stop turns into a 30 minute detainment and an NCIC check on your gun.

I have a similar mount inside my center console and love the idea of the magnetic mount but we also need to think of how best intentions can go really wrong.

P.S. If you just run in somewhere for a minute and forget to take or conceal that gun its just begging to get stolen!!

 

The safety is on, but I have de-cocked too, I had been messing around with it. Definitely don't want to lose a toe lol

 

I can agree with you..... I have a concealed carry permit and knock on wood I don't get pulled over, but when I have in other vehicles and have the same mount... I tell them I am carrying and they haven't done anything to date. I do put it up when leaving vehicle if not going to carry

Nah, I've been pulled over a few times both open and concealed. Depending on the state you are not required to report the firearm to the officer, and none had any issues whatsoever when seeing a firearm. If anything they are more polite.

 

Ouch! I used to shoot mainly 1911's, close to 500 rds per week and never an issue. I have grown to love the 1911 platform.

I do like the polymer pistols too but there's something to be said for the feel and weight of the 1911.

 

I love 1911's too. I have a Kimber Royal II that I used to carry regularly but with changes in tech, I switched to an FN FNX-45

I don’t have a high comfort level with magnet retention. If I wanted an easy access mount, I would go with a holster style with a covered trigger, but that’s just me.

Serious question for you guys who have mounted pistols in the truck. How many times have you had to use them?

 

They already know you have a CC when the pull you over(atleast in VA). Some will just ask if you are carrying today.

 

Accessible but not mounted for me. And zero times needed. But same stat for my need of my seatbelts.

Hope they both stay zero but I’ll keep strapping on both anyway.

 

Personally mine sits locked in the glove box. Out of sight for if your pulled over and stored safely so no access to children. In case of needing it I guess I am at a bit of a disadvantage because it would take me time to unlock the glove box and retrieve it

Wow. So every CCW holder has a red mark on their file when the Cop runs their license in VA?

 

Your CCW is tied to your name which is tied to your car/truck license plate if its registered in your name. They wouldn't know if your driving/riding in someone else's car. That's what I was told by a officer when I lived in Va at least so take it with a grain of salt.

 

If I thought I were going into a situation where I needed a gun, I'm taking a rifle. Handgun sits in a lockbox cabled to the seat rails. During my old job in a rental car I pulled it once, did't have to shoot thank God.

 

Anyone find an efficient way to mount an AR pistol?

 

Cocked and locked is the correct carry position for the 1911.
