I know that feeling.. but usually when I find a bottle missing from my collection. I'm down to so few these days and none available in the whole region... it's a good feeling for sure!

This year's first batch of eggnog is officially aging in the fridge patiently waiting for Christmas.

I'm calling this one the 12 Year Nog. All the booze is 12 yo and it'll marry up nicely over the next 12 weeks.

Total of 3 cups of booze... 1 cup of Foursquare 12 yo rum, 1 cup W12, 1/3 cup KC 12, 1/3 cup each ECBP B519 and A120. Tomorrow I'll whip up something different for Batch 2, but I'm not quite sure what to mix just yet.

I was debating on ordering a set online and when I was at Wegmans today I noticed they had a crystal pair for $19.99 I should just buy them. They also had this interesting whiskey I have never seen before in their employee favorites. Ezra Brooks distillers collection. The proof on it was very impressive and it wasn't very expensive at all I was very tempted. It looks like it's specifically made for Wegmans only. Instead tonight I'm sipping this from a stemless wine glass with a gentle caress of water. One thing I've always wondered we have deionized water at work... this water is absolutely 100% pure and free of anything. Does anyone ever use it for adding water to the whiskey? I'm sure I could look it up but I'm feeling lazy.

I used one I found online last year and it was a big hit.

Beat a dozen egg yolks then slowly mix in 1-1/2 cups of sugar

In another bowl gently mix 14 oz heavy whipping cream, 20 ounces of whole milk, 1/2 tab salt, and 3 cups of at least 40% alcohol to kill anything that may be in the eggs and to prevent bad stuff from happening during aging.

The alcohol is up to the user, but having some spiced rum in there helps give it a Christmas spice character. Last year I did half rum half bourbon and I loved it.

Then you'll slowly mix in the dairy/booze bowl into the sugar eggs until it's all evenly mixed. Then jar it and age it in a refrigerated space for at least 6 weeks, but the longer you age it the better it seems to get IMO.
