    Hey everyone,
My check engine light came on, ran diagnostics on came back as speed sensor A and secondary air pump. Had both replaced. Had error codes deleted. 20 min later check engine light came back on. Checked that no fuses had blown. Disconnected battery and reset the idle memory on it twice. Truck rans great but again check engine light came back on. Ran another diagnostic on it and same error code came up. I have not found or seen any symptoms that are listed for a bad speed sensor or air pump. Any ideas?

Yes. Truck runs great, no noticeable issues that u would see with a bad air pump or speed sensor.

The speed sensor sends signal to the Gage Cluster (aka. Combination meter)
The Cluster sends signal to the ECM.
If the Speedometer works, it isn’t the Speed Sensor.
The next step is Cluster to ECM signal.

This is per the Flow Chart for p0500

Would that affect the secondary air pump as well? I’m not feeling any air pass thru the pump. Also my cruise control stopped working about 9 mo ago and read that could be an issue with the cluster.

No, I would not think it would have anything to do with the air pump.

In the picture above, you will see an air switching valve.
Check all the hoses going to it, see if any of them are off or leaking.
It should look like something this

Thank you! So I did check the hoses. All in good condition and clamped on tight. Still no air coming thru. Could it be a faulty air switch valve? Also is there any other ways to test the electrical cluster before I get a new one to be sure that’s the issue?

My understanding is that if the speedometer works it’s not the cluster.
It’s the Harness to the ECM, or the ECM.

It’s worth checking out before you buy anything.
Since both are expensive and may require a reprogram.

These switching valves have been known to get stuck open or closed or anywhere in between.

They belong some where between -Never being put on the truck and taken off the truck.
Unfortunately, The “Do Gooders” don’t see it that way.
