Well a few weeks ago, a mostly just unsettling break-in to the truck prompted some smaller upgrades...

Nothing of value was stolen, but they tried to get my radio...
    DAF23900-6FF8-4CD9-BBF4-68FAE9CF9267.jpg

Amazon made quite a few stops at my house, among other things the Tacoma got:

    Tyler Automotive 6’ Roll-up Tonneu
    2B6BEAF9-606D-48D6-A5D6-A3BAD4FDD29C.jpg

Install went easy enough, had to make a few accommodations to the bed rail brackets (cut them down about .8” on the rail and cover side) due to the fiberglass sitting lower than the oem metal bedsides and plastic top.
But good to know that they work with Fiberglass bedsides !
This will keep eyes off of stuff in the bed, and hopefully a bit of dust out of the bed too when I bash offroad and have to camp in the bed at night !
Also coincidentally installed one at the same time as my good friend Cole @pre_funner ...

The second security addition was a Thinkware Q800Pro dual camera Dash cam with parking mode, night vision, GPS, g-sensor, WiFi smartphone connection, and much more.
I found it on Amazon for $299.

Main unit stuck up and out of the way.
    9599AACA-6A2E-42A8-97D8-BBE0FB3CD99F.jpg

Rear camera facing the bed, but it can also be rotated 180° to film the interior of the cab.
    EA46DF1B-4BAD-492E-AE03-AC4A7093390B.jpg

Install was straight forward, i dropped the driver side of the headliner and removed the driver a-pillar and dash pieces below the steering wheel to hard-wire in the camera for full functionality and a clean install.

note: the hardwire kit uses the red as the ignition wire (constant film while driving) and yellow for a constant 12v for parking mode.

I grounded it to the ground bolt near the interior fuse box.
Constant 12v was tapped into the DR LCK 20a & ignition red wire tapped into the ACC 7.5a fuse - both using add-a-circuit fuse taps.

2nd note: as far as I know, the PWR Outlet and DR LCK fuses are the only constant hot fuses in cab. IGN & IG1 fuse can also be used for a key-in hot, but I already had used both of those spots for a CB radio and Clazzio seat heaters...

Overall, nothing super crazy or exciting, but good mods for daily driving it and peace of mind.

Will be in the desert next weekend 10/31-11/1 !
    Ocotillo or Superstition...

Not much happening yet… but something BIG in the near future… (December sometime?) :burnrubber:

In the meantime, I grabbed a few “nice” iPhone photos at work.

And a few more with a coworkers new MINT C6 daily driver m… unmolested 2009 with 5000 original miles.

From last weekend in Barstow -- for the Clean Desert event on Nov. 6.

Picked up a TON a trash, the group filled 11 MASSIVE dumpsters, had some great Tacos and food, and then ripped around in trucks!

Agreed, I wasn't ballsy enough to hit those bigger whoops at speed. The rear end of the truck still bucks a good amount, need to tune a bit more.
Thank y'all again for the lunch! Perfect desert food.

Finally got around to replacing the Volant Donaldson filter on the truck... Looong overdue!

This was the original filter, on the truck for 65-95k miles depending on when the original owner bought the intake.
This thing was put through close to 10 years of daily driving and many offroad trips where mud, silt, dust, and dirt were trapped by it since my truck has no inner fenders to shield the intake from the wheel well.
I vacuumed it out once before each desert season and usually after every offroad trip.

Old (left) vs new (right) exterior.

Old (left) vs new (right) interior.

    IMG_1187.jpg

Some separation of the dry media from the edges of the rubber, but I was quite impressed with its filtering capabilities !
I also installed a water sock over the new filter.

And got some new tires after 56,000 miles on the BFG Ko2. Went from 285’s to 315’s. Got an off brand Amazon a/t tire that was sub $900 installed… decently light at 65lbs each and cheap. They ride much nicer and quieter on the road. Not that ko2’s are bad by any means.

Been a minute… but the truck is better than ever !

Picked up a used TRD supercharger, spent close to a year gathering missing parts, rebuilding it, and making everything like new again.

Also picked up a used CSF radiator from a member on here, threw that on as well!
    Thanks again @o0opackersfano0o

    CDE7D82E-6C81-4488-8087-CEC76CBEF72C.jpg

Put a URD Stealth 2.85” pulley on it, had SCOL do a full overhaul, got a 160° thermostat as recommended in the TRD Supercharger thread, and @JustDSM was able to get my spare ECU tuned with the correct setup.

Makes some great noises and is “fast” for a Tacoma on 35’s with stock gearing.
Thanks to all who helped in the SC thread.
