I tapped into an auxiliary fuse box setup under the hood. So far no issues. The camera does not get hot when the truck is off. I also have a voltage gauge on my phone and I don't have any lost of voltage running the camera that way. I was also able to center the camera. In the end, it works out good for me. The only complaint is when I turn on the camera regardless of front or rear via the "Camera" icon on the headunit, it takes about 3 seconds before any of the camera image comes up.

Ok cool thanks for your response. I am going to power mine from a push button switch. I spoke with another guy in the Android stereo section that I'm a part of and he said he just wired the little red wire next to the rca with power and it worked without even touching the red and black wires for power. Don't really understand how it would work without a ground?

don’t do as I’ve done, installed a test fit and got it looking nice but swapped back to stock as I haven’t taken the 30 minutes yet to solder the wires! Better to procrastinate before the purchase than after.

Go to the picture adjustment page in settings and adjust the dimmer setting down.

Public self shaming worked. Let’s hope I connected the wires properly. Though I guess there is plenty of room to get another few tries in.

OK, finally got mine in the dash for real tonight. Now I get to figure out how to register and use the thing, connect my phone, etc. I know a ton of answers in here I need to re-read. The microphone suggestions were great, though I still have to test that, once I get the phone paired. Can't even figure out the volume yet :)

I do have one legit problem. The camera harness maestro 6-pin connector is too big. Probably because I have the RR2 instead of the RR. So I either need to hunt down a new one or solder that sucker up. Hopefully that's the reason my steering wheel controls didn't work for volume.

Thanks for all the great help everyone.

Oh and also, photos of the brackets. Don’t be like me and drill the wrong hole the first time. Though who really cares if you do.

I have the RR2 and everything plugged up just fine for me. Mine came with two camera harness’s and I just had to pick the right one.

well doesn’t that just tickle me. Here is a photo but not sure it’s clear. I assume I’m looking at the right plug because there is only one six pin one row plug.

I used the one on the right in the top picture. The white end plugs into the truck harness, the rca plugs into rca coming out of Pioneer and the black end plugs into the TO2 harness. Nothing for the backup cam directly plugs into the Maestro.

Oh, I see. Must be my f up. I’ll recheck. Thanks. I did not see a spare connector on the harness but it was pretty dark.

I think that'll take care of your issue with the camera. I too have the RR2 and no problems for me.

Yeah, all is working well for me once I removed my Germes module. Bummed to lose it and now I have to source power for the front camera again as I neglected to do that when soldering my harness, oops.

Thanks everyone for the assist, I completely missed the bit about the connector on the harness for the camera plug.

I think I still have to do the fancy 10s touch thingy but I can’t even remember why or what that unlocks. Need to go back and re-read that part.

I have an RR2 with a Gems module for my cameras. The order of connection I am using is the Factory Harness -->Gems Harness--> T02 Harness. The Gems module is working perfectly. I will note that the power connector for the Gems module does not have a corresponding power connector for the 6600. I cut the connector off, put the black to chassis ground and I am powering the Gems module off the AMP turn on wire from the T02 harness.

The entire setup work exactly as designed. Tap MODE twice on the steering wheel and you get the camera menu and then use the up and down keys on the steering wheel to change between front and rear cameras.

ah. That’s how I had it but the second harness unconnected so no power I guess? How did you figure out which pins? I’ll take a closer look, man that is awesome news.

I actually wired up three remote out leads from a pac TR4 so I was thinking of using one for the camera but now maybe I use one for the Germes

Just splice in power and ground, that’s it? I think there were 6 pins on that harness?

The rest of the pins were for the XM signals. The only two wires coming off the harness are a red and black wire (power and ground).
