    Everywhere I look online they say that painting the stock aluminum alloy wheels is a PIA. They say they need etching, sanding with different grits of sandpaper, 3 coats of primer and clear finish.

    There are also several different brands of paint. VHT, Dupli-color, Rust Oleum, Plasti Dip etc.

    Does anyone have any experience in this. I am handicapped and want to do this myself without making it a weeklong project. I am thinking of matte black paint.

    BTW, those are new Cooper Evolution HT 265/75/16

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    I usually take them off to paint, you're going to want to let them dry overnight between coats.
    Otherwise you get stuck like I was driving on primered wheels;

    End product was worth it though;

    Take off, wash, dry, scratch up with 100grit, clean/dry, primer 2/3 light coats 10 min between, let sit overnight, clean/dry, paint 3/4 light coats 10min between, let sit overnight. *optional clearcoat 2/3 light coats, let sit overnight*

    Enjoy
