I'm take the easy response...would you say you'll eat, sleep tacos for 3 days?

 

I walked right into that one.

 

Well for those curious, I decided on a menu. You can rest easy now. I wanted a bit of variety which is reflected below.

Thursday night - frozen meal bag

Friday morning - cereal

Friday lunch - sandwich and chips

Friday dinner - tacos

Saturday morning - cereal

Saturday lunch - sandwich and chips

Saturday dinner - taco leftovers

Sunday breakfast - cereal

 

You hit that nail right on the head. Military loves to chuck those heater meals out when you're stuck in a building watching some 15 hour Power Point presentation about crap you could care less about. They're not bad really. I have a few hanging around for when the zombies arrive.

And Uncrustables are pretty bomb. It's what I try to take camping everytime until the wife catches me.

 

Throw some steaks on a grill

 

I would if I wasn't a piece of shit when it comes to grilling anything

 

Anything you can cook with water like rices & pastas, then fresh veggies and canned proteins. Not only are all these easy to work with, none need to be refrigerated. If you feel you need to have meat or fowl, prepare it ahead of time and freeze it. Keep it frozen until the last minute. Vacuum sealed prepared/frozen meals can be reheated in boiling water and eaten out of the bag with plastic wear leaving you with zero clean up. Get use to eating Sardines. Not only are they a super food they are great mixed with brown rice and veggies like onions, garlic, black beans, they are also good for a quick snack with crackers in the middle of the day. They're especially good with hot sauce. The sardines in water taste like tuna. If that's too much get some salmon in the can. Starkist has some new canned fish. I haven't tried them yet.

Like B said, Steak. Keep it simple though. A huge steak and a large baked potato. Not only will you be full but if you nuke the potato before you leave, and slice it and some spanish onion into thick slices, you can cook it all in the same pan, with some basic seasonings, and right before it's done, pour a quarter of your beer in the pan and scrape the bottom with a wooden spoon and make a rustic gravy.

Or just say fuck it, get a large grill safe metal coffee pot and a case of mixed ramien. LOL

 

Vacuum seal up the chicken/pork/beef/fish with all marinades, seasoning etc. Freeze/refrigerate according to meal schedule (though with your 55 domestic freezing shouldn't be as big a deal vs. cooler).

Side can be done similarly and you could sous-vide that shit camp style

 

Do you know anyone with chickens? Fresh eggs don't require refrigeration.

 

Head down toward Fentress field and there are tons of fresh farm eggs and produce down that way (not too far from you @EatSleepTacos)

 

As long as your fridge runs at 40°F or less, you're good for probably a week or more. Those meal bags are fully cooked, you're just reheating.

 

Bring a bow and arrow. Hunt for your meals like a true American.

That steak and potato does sound good. I need to practice my steak cooking at home. Woe is me, looks like I'm getting some steak soon.

 

I do a lot of tortilla based meals because they're a versatile base and they pack flat / low profile.

Add some eggs, cheese and a little salsa you get a breakfast burrito.

Add a brat and some baked beans or a little chili, you get a decent dinner.

Slap some PB&J or whatever the filling of your choice is, get a decent lunch sandwich thing.

 

This. Perfect for lunches esp when you still have a good ways to drive and not a lot of time to stop. 2 uncrustables and a small bag of chips and you're on the move in 15 mins.

 

What about turkey legs?
