I just ordered a set of 18x12 inch wheels -44 offset and will be running them on 3 inch level kit with 33x12.50s.
I'm concerned with the weight of these wider wheels being too heard on the ball joints as well as excessive rubbing with just the 3 inch lift.
    Feedback?

Welcome to TW. Generally you want to ask these questions prior to your purchases, but lets see if we can help. You probably will rub. What weight are the wheels?

Wheels weigh 36 lbs. I know they're gonna rub the fender but the offset of the wheels should be enough to clear the frame etc. Anyone cut any part off their fender / remove mud guard to keep from rubbing there?

Not sure you are going to clear your cab mount. Youre wheels have a 4.75 backspacing which is close to ideal, but the fact that your tires are 12.5 wide is probably going to be what does you in there. As far as your rims are concerned, they are only about 8 lbs heavier than the stock 17" rims, so not a huge concern, but when you couple that with the weight of a 33x12.5 tire, you're going to have a noticeable difference. I wouldnt suspect you would blow through ball joints but you will have greater wear and tear.

@Comatose I guess the only real thing I can do is wait and hope at this point. Hoping to have it done Labor Day Weekend. I'll post pics and see how everything lines up. Thanks for your feedback

Well, if you haven't mounted yet, you can return or resell the wheels. 12" wide wheel is extremely wide, especially for a 12.5" wide tire. Did you check the tire spec to see if it is in the tolerable range to mount to a wheel that wide? Usually the max width I'd recommend is 8", though many run 9" wide wheels.

Crap I didnt even think about that. Good call. I know of some Ford and Dodge guys who have run that exact setup but I think the approved top end of most 33x12.5s is around 11.

OP what tires are you purchasing?

My 98 has 4 in.beefed blocks, QA1 up front, turbo. My 15 4x4 stock looking for lift and tires.
Hey what ever happened to this thread.

I am considering selling my 285/70/17's Ridge Grapplers with 17x9 Pro Comps.

Wanting to go with 33/12.50/18's with 18x12 Whatevers (I haven't decided on which rim).

A little concerned about rubbing as well and how much trimming will be needed. Maybe a cab mount chop if needed. If the Original poster could provide a update, that would be great.

    TIA. Heath

I have 33 x 12.5 x 20. I had to remove my front air dam and front mud flaps. They would hit at full turn. Or sometimes when going over a bump. I think the trucks looks better without them.

Hey I have a 2017 Toyota Tacoma with a 4 in suspension lift. I was wondering if I would be able to clear 18x12 with a -44 offset on 33 tires with only plastic trimming? Or will this setup require me to do a cmc?

I run 18x12 with -44 offset on 33s but with a 3 inch lift. My truck is also 2007. Had to do some minor trimming to the cab mount, but nothing serious. But I think with a 4 inch lift you should be perfectly fine.
