Evening guys. New to the group. I was on the fence about what truck to get. But after getting my wife the new Camry and my teenage son the Scion, I couldn’t pass up on the longevity and low maint of The Toyota. Love my 19’ SR5. Now I have a dilemma. I want it to be beefier wheel wise. Currently I have OEM tires. 245/75/16. New rims but standard tires. I want some beefier thicker tires. What do u guys recommend. I just paid $700 for the rims and kinda want to keep them. What rubber do u guys feel would make it look a bit more aggressive or do I have to go up in size???

I had a fairly new set of badyear 265/70 16's A/T tires from my old 2001 tundra that i had put on my 2020 sr5. Couldn't see much difference in ride compliance, or even with the fuel economy. I think it went down a couple tenths, but the truck now seems more sure footed especially on the dirt road i live off of.

The SR5 comes with 245-75-R16 tires. You can upgrade to 265-70-R16 tires. They will be the same size but wider. Your speedo etc will stay accurate.
NOTE: The OffRoad and Pros come with 265-70-R16s for comparison.

I would get something in 265/75-16. Load C or SL load. Maybe duratracs, BFG AT Bros, or goodyear ultraterrains, for example. These will be roughly an inch taller than stock but fit fine on the stock suspension.

remove air dam, backout the chrome badges, consider a BHLM - all that chrome in the headlights doesn't look aggressive. Kill it all!!

good luck doing what you like best!

I'm pretty sure your truck is a little under 18'. The ones with 6' beds are closer to 19'. :)

Oh!! you mean it is a '19 model year. Where you put the apostrophe matters. Just kidding, welcome to the forum.

A 265/75/16 is as big as you can go without modifying the truck and I think a good size. It is big enough to look good, yet not so big that there are any real downsides. That will be almost 1" wider and about 1" taller than what you have.

Which tire is very personal. Be honest, if you're not going to be doing a lot of hard core off road driving you don't need an aggressive tire. Something like a Michelin would be a wise choice. If you do plan to spend a lot of time on rough unpaved roads or off road then a tougher E rated tire will hold up to the abuse better. But at extra expense and a rougher ride. Most people do fine with a P rated tire. They cost less, will carry any load you'll put in a Tacoma and give better a ride. None of the really aggressive tires are available in a P rating so if you want that aggressive look you're going to have to go to a heavier duty tire.
