I’m curious as well and will test. Don’t quite buy it but will give a try.

 

A guy with a 2nd Gen and s/c installed a set of the 3rd gen coil packs. I am pretty sure he datalogged with the HP tuner, but don't remember the outcome. I'll have to ask. If they raise the capability over stock, for higher hp needs, like this kit will soon be producing on many trucks, then it'll be beneficial.

 

@OVTune any idea when instructions are going to be released?

MESO has beent sent a kit since his is highly customized, and almost everyone else switched downpipes to catted which are in production. Our CNC pans are on the way, then a few more kits are going out

Do those spark plugs fit the 3rd gen I thought they didn’t

 

They fit 3rd, slightly modifed to fit second.

Surprised that MESO is running these after OV based them in the RIPP thread...

 

I definitely didnt bash them. Just shared my experience with tuning and talked about a great video by platinum racing products about coil packs.
If I recall correctly, the Toyota yaris coilpack was one of the highest outputting coils except the R35..m R35 coils are just beasts.

If I would put ANY coil on this truck it would be a R35 coil.

I've personally never seen coil packs make more than a marginal...2-5hp on a dyno, which is can easily be attributed to change in temps.

The only times I have ever seen a coil make a significant difference is if we go back in time to distributors and those single cylinder coils, where throwing a "MSD Blaster" or whatever on it actually made significant differences. That was helpful for spark blowout and other boost related things. The early days of tuning.

 

Is Treadstone tr1035 the intercooler to get still if we have a winch In the front bumper? If so any known places with a good deal on it? Has this been confirmed to meet up with ovtunes tubing?

Thanks for sharing. I was wrong, with the Paris being in 3rd place of OEM coils, not 2nd. (Since the top few were all R35 I count it as 1). R35, Audi, Yaris.



Would love to see data on the ripp coils, but just like he said, you MUST put correct dwell settings in the ECU otherwise it's all for nothing.

 

I’d bet there are little to no gains. In fact, I’ll probably never be able to tell because I’m going from stock to full on twins. But they look cool!
