I'm sorry that happened to you as well. These days it seems anyone who wants anything is content to just grab it. Sad and worrisome since my Taco lives on the street in front of my house.

Whatever the reason they did this, in today’s climate it is somehow your fault, and you still owe an apology.

Sorry this happened and I know how you feel as it has happened to me before. On the bright side, that is a cheap way for a custome chrome delete and now it looks tough!

Ive only seen this stuff done in Africa. Company manager had a Prado. Thieves smashed the driver's window just to nab the center two A/C vents and all four window switches. Not the door card, just the switches. Later on they hit our Ranger. They stole the battery cable, battery, and part of the electrical harness from under the hood.

There is logic in this in the remote parts of the world. It takes months to ship parts and nobody has the foresight to keep a stock supply. So if an order comes in to the parts counter, not only is it much easier to just go find those parts on the street, but it also guarantees a future customer.

Crazy that it happens here. I can speculate that someone had a customer needing to export a bezel so they went shopping, but I dunno. There are far easier ways to get parts than that.:notsure:

Im thinking they were not there for the radio. My best guess is that they were actually after the trim panel. They have a tacoma and they either broke or scratched theirs, or they have a sr5 with the smaller bezel and needed the big bezel to install a big screen aftermarket unit, so they went out and stole someone elses instead of dropping $100+ on a used one.

They probably would of stolen the headunit too if it wasnt JBL as the normal one would of worked with the lower end models.

The gopro mount stolen would seem they have a lower end model or a new model that they removed the mount from.

Amen. I've also heard that cell phone chargers are an often stolen item. I make it a point to never leave anything in plain sight. Then there's my GF who leaves everything she owns out and rarely locks her doors

the thieves are emboldened because they aren't going to face any retribution from the authorities or the people they steal from

For those not from California here’s a wonderful tidbit. In order to reduce prison populations we had a ballot item It changed the dollar value for felonies and made most property crimes not punishable by imprisonment.

The bill passed. It didn’t take long for things like theft from vehicles to skyrocket.

Today in larger cities the police won’t even come out and take a report. You go to them just so you can file an insurance claim.

I was at a meeting and a representative from the prosecutor’s office said they wouldn’t even bother trying to prosecute property crimes because “it wasn’t worth their time”.

The citizenry is reaping what they have sown.
