yeah, but looks like you can swing left off 1274 and loop around the back side on Big Woods RD. Up to Murder Branch, which is worth a look just for the name

I think theres a pretty good lookout trail up that way too
Its visible on the cave run lake map, although not with labels like deeds posted.

I think the wheeling up there is a bit more mild, with the harder stuff reserved for permit holding sxs and the like. But it could be a pretty cool trip for more of a hangout type meet, the smaller branches are non motorized boat friendly I believe, so canoes/kayaks/fishies etc.

    Outdoor rifle range nearby too.

looks like it's marked as FSR-1074 which goes up to that peninsula.

Part of it is Pioneer Weapons WMA, but the waterfront area of the peninsula isn't covered.

"Hunters should use caution and be aware that many of these roads have surface damage from heavy rainfall over the past year. Several roads that are normally open for hunting season will not be open in 2019 due to poor conditions, including Shooting Range Road 909, Murder Branch Road 1074, and Scott Creek Road 1093. The Forest Service is working to secure funding to repair these roads."

Gaia says the road is open for amin use only with planned maintenance for vehicle use

I'd bring a shovel and 200lbs of gravel to dispersed camp and hang out up there for a night or two.

I wish they'd do like ME & NH and classify public roads by maintenance priority/budget level.

Put class 5 and 6 roads in the hands of the public where they belong.

I'm headed down for the holiday weekend with a small group of guys (Jeeps). We are planning to mostly follow the Danial Boone National Byway. Anyone had other trains and/or .GPX, .KML, .KMZ, .FIT, .GEOJSON files to follow?

So I know this is reviving a old thread. I am going to be upgrading from my 2005 4dr MT sport 4x4 sometime in June to a 2021 MT trd pro. I really want to make use of what this truck is made for and was wondering if doing the DBBB or the KAT would make sense for how it is stock. Have any of you all been out there recently and can give any tips? Is it suicide without a winch?

I wouldn't go as far as saying you CAN'T get a stock Tacoma through much of the way, but that would be death to a new truck. And there are spots where a built rig can struggle. Right now it's dry. Easier. Go when it's muddy and it's not easy.

There are a few sections that offer great potential for carnage....

A few places that require greater skills as a driver...

When you say death to a new truck you mean a trd pro would not have an easy time and get banged up?

The truck itself is very capable of doing a good majority of it. But you’ll definitely acquire some pinstripes. Don’t do it alone, have someone with you that’s atleast semi experienced and can be a spotter when needed. The stock tires on that truck are going to be what holds it back. Other mods are helpful too but tires are probably the biggest “flaw” on the trd OR and trd pro
