Okay, well not to be pedantic, but a private forum has zero obligation to comply with freedom of anything.

Regardless, today I cleaned way more mud and dirt off my truck than I remember putting there.... maybe the mud goblins got me again.

My mud bath is coming. About 1/2 mile of a pretty deep mud wallow to get to one of my favorite hunting spots. So much for a color matched skid plate!

The only really hairy route I have to travel. To be honest I'd be much more comfortable in a swamp buggy when making that drive. But man is it worth bringing an extra pair of shorts!

Local discount warehouse in my area had the avs hood deflector on sale for like $40 cuz the boxes were damage but the product was still untouched.
Do I really need it? Not really lol I wish it was matte black instead of smoke but it still works. Install took less than 10 min.

Do these things really work? I drive through the Everglades pretty regularly and for decades, always found "something else" to spend the bucks on. I've heard so many different reviews...what's the status on their usefulness on the Tacos?

I've installed one on every vehicle I've had. I like the looks but I think they do help with deflecting debris from off the front of the hood.

Without some smoke and a wind tunnel to determine airflow I can tell you that in my experience there is SOME benefit in getting bugs, sand and such over the windshield. For sure they protect the nose on my hood from being sandblasted while driving at increased speeds on the highway.

I am posting this to express my appreciation for all the positive discussion and ideas regarding our choice of vehicles. Anyone who has interacted with me here and knows me also understands I am fair and open to all opinions from those I interact with. I was banned yesterday when I inserted myself into well over a whole page of banter about racism to illustrate that the one who started the thread going off the rails had come full circle to being exactly what he had originally posted negatively about, and I was banned. Three words. Banned. Immediately after posting it, I decided to edit to provide clarity to my comment, and could not even finish editing before I was banned. Indiscriminately, without cause, reason, or recourse, other than I "violated rules" banned. The moderator could have easily inserted him/herself into the thread and reminded everyone that the discussion had veered too far and to knock it off. They chose not to, and that is my point. Had I been given an opportunity to have had a discussion with the moderator who imposed the ban (still don't know who it was), then maybe there could have been a more clear understanding. In a forum a large as this one, that's simply unfair and counterproductive.

I joined this site several years ago, but recently I and others have become victims by way of suspensions and bans that are not clear in purpose. It seems moderators can just ban somebody ambiguously and unfairly with no mechanism of appeal, explanation or clarification. Even Twitter lets you appeal. I don't believe the site admin intended it to be this way, but it clearly has become that way. The forum rules state that political discussion isn't to be tolerated, but in selectively banning folks who obviously are not aligned with their views or beliefs and not banning others for the same type of content, it appears biased and discriminatory, and in my opinion, unfair.
I will probably get kicked for posting this, and harbor no ill will against anybody, including the moderators, but I am sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. I love this place, I've always tried to follow the rules, but when it becomes clear that the rules are not being consistently enforced, then maybe it's time for me to disengage. Unless I'm permanently banned, I'll still hang out and absorb as much knowledge and ideas as I can, but I won't contribute anymore, because I don't feel posting is being treated fairly and equitably, and want to be free to post, within the rules of course, without being banned with no explanation. I would have addressed this directly to the moderator had I been given the chance, but I was not. My life will go on. Lot's of great folks here, but clearly things need to change. Have a nice day. Scouts Out! Geaux Tigers!

haha. No rivet nuts for this project. I did use rivet nuts to fix my sons power wheels this week though.

Here’s a few pictures of how I mounted the poles. I just did a test run at 50 and they’re solid. I feel like the flags won’t hold up that long though.

My experience with having one on my 2001 was keep that area clean. It likes to trap all kinds of shite between it and your hood. Leaves, sticks, dead bugs... what have you. I took mine off when I sold that truck and wished I'd never put it on. It serves no purpose other than cosmetics.

Very nice. We have a family cottage on Sturgeon. If I was up there right now I would be a hppy camper, and invite you over for a socially distant beverage. Perhaps another time. I have been camping at Lakefield campground the past 2 summers for a weeks holidays and visiting a buddy on Buckhorn Lake for a boat ride at least once while we are up here.

I honestly have no idea as to how useful they really are... but for $40 I figure it would be a good “cosmetic” add on since I like the look of it.
And if there are actually any usefulness that this product gives, then that’ll be extra!
