    Yep. You can knock it loose and turn axle into orientation where you can sneak the new stud in between the rear brake pads. You just need to remove drums.


    EDIT: also I feel proud I was able to respond to this. I still remember your name because my very first post here several years ago was a question about driveline noise and you graciously helped my newb self figure it out!

    You don’t need any fancy tools which is good. I have replaced numerous wheel studs and I always have some open end spare steel wheel lug nuts that I use to seat them. I use a washer and the flat part of the lug nut to seat the new stud. Using an impact I gently run it down while paying attention to the the seat. Once it is seated I give a couple ugga-dugga’s and put it all back together. I installed extended stud on mine since I didn’t like the lack of thread protrusion with my FN Six Shooter wheels had.

    On the rear you have enough access if you rotate the hub so the one you’re removing is towards the bottom. There is plenty of clearance to remove the std and install the new one.

    Pretty sure everyone that has replaced studs is wondering why we would need that tool. Stud replacement is pretty hard to fuck up even if you are in a hurry.
