I was going to buy them but have thought twice about it since your original post... I know how you talk about guys doing the same to you (cough that V guy) so gotta be careful. Your words have alot of pull around here whether intentional or not. I don't disagree with with you being cautious. Honestly I was hoping that you would test them out and see if they were worth it (especially stacked with your tune).

I don't want to buy them because guesswork sucks and I don't see any dwell data...or really any specs at all about them. Just that they are 40% more powerful than OEM.
How did they conclude they are 40% more powerful?
What is the "strength" of the stock coilpack?
How was it tested, at what voltage?

part of the description is improved throttle response and improved MPG and no tuning required.
The video above by PRP goes into great detail exactly why tuning is required.

For example my R32 GTR has R35 coil packs.
It will run perfectly with the R35 coils set at a 1ms dwell @ 13.5 volts.
You'd *never* know they were running inefficiently at that dwell, until you start pushing into higher power.
The actual dwell time required is closer to 5ms. 5x as much.
wrong dwell over time can damage coils.

The stock ECU coil dwell is between 2.3 and 1.4 ms depending on RPM and voltage, for the stock coils.
Do these coils work in that zone? I have no idea.

Maybe they created them to work and be at maximum efficiency within the stock coil dwell settings and the stock dwell produces the most optimal spark from them creating 40% more power. I have no idea. I am only looking at this from my experience tuning.

but then again I have to ask, what is "power." When talking about a coil.

In my opinion the "improved MPG" is a gimmick statement because the variability of MPG is so wild that statement is impossible to prove false. I don't even advertise such a thing on my tunes.

All that said, they could truly be a great coil.

Happy I’m able to keep my ARB compressor. Need to fab a custom mount, but at least I can have my cake and eat it too

also, anyone looking to do a vacuum manifold..here’s how I did mine. I relocated the stock vacuum solenoid(?) back around to the drivers side. Still feeds from the stock plastic manifold but now into the 6 port(and back out to stock). Overkill as I only need 3; BOV, Boost gauge, Exhaust cutout. But room for expansion. Just made a quick bracket and bolted it to the hole where the original solenoid was mounted.

Stock engine cover closes right over. You’d never even know

And if the turbos aren’t loud enough... I have this guy pointing out through the hood scoop:D

I forgot to add. I know of one guy using R35 coils on a Tacoma. @05Taco4x4 has them on his 2TR turbo'd setup.

I was walking the dogs with my wife this morning. We walked past a parked WRX with a carbon hood scoop. She isn't really into cars but asked what the scoop was for. Long story short, I told here there was a turbo kit for Tacomas. I told her how much the kit costs without even mentioning I was looking at purchasing one. She shrugged and said, "what else do you have going on?"

LMAO. I ordered my kit without consulting the wife. When I finally told her about it she just said, "oh so you're trying to keep up with me? ".... she drives a e350 benz

I'd told my wife about the kit a long time ago and when the sale went live, I pre-ordered. Told my wife shortly after and she goes "well what do I get you for your birthday now?" Lol

How is the fit around the edges? I’m curious if they fixed it? I had a ever slight gap and it was wreaking havic on temps. if not make sure to seal it with a gasket and possibly heat tape. almost overheated the trans ( well did hit the warning light)

You’re doing it wrong. Supposed to make HER pre order it for YOU;)
Yes. I can’t take credit for the fan idea, as it was East Down’s. But it is the same 18” high CFM unit.
Haven’t test fit it yet. Not sure how the fitment is on 3rd gens VS 2nd. Do you have a pic of where this “gap” was?
