So...we all meet up for Christmas this evening and Son points out the seat belt and airbag light icons lights stay on steady on his dash under normal conditions. Did a quick check under and around both front seats and nothing obvious. Did the google search and here and found nothing that matches. Obviously being the Saturday night before Christmas means no Dealerships available at least until Wednesday. Did lot of mods to this thing before giving him this truck but nothing "relevant" to the cabin, chassis or wiring. Anyone here that would be kind enough to point me in the right direction? For reference, below is the TW link for this vehicle and this is my Son I'm talking about so a little sense of urgency on my part not wanting to wait until I'm back home to my dealership.

    Thanks.

I would start by going to auto zone or O’Reillys to get the codes read.

Isn’t there a recall on the 2018-19 for air bags?

Something tells me there readers are just the basics and won't give accurate codes...but will try if I can't find anything today.

Battery is fine...and the truck is only a few months old.

Do you or anyone here a 2018 Tacoma link? All I found was for Prius and a few others. Using Mother-in-laws old computer so I'm limited with no "stored" resources.

Thanks for the replies folks...and please keep them coming. Will crawl around a get a better look after my Mom's church.

Did a very thorough visual this afternoon and found no smoking guns...and decided NOT to try and reset so there are no questions and/or statements saying can not duplicate. Was hoping the 2 local Dealerships (we're out of town) might be doing half a day tomorrow, but no such luck. Thanks Lunabird, but the only applicable to this vehicle on that link was for the master cylinder...which will be handled when/if the VIN comes up in Jan. All indications at this time points to getting Dealership to pull the DTCs. So...will be swapping vehicles with my Son and handle this at "MY" Dealership where I know all the bosses well, so they care of business with me...as they all should. Will update when I have more info to give this week with the specific DTCs.

    Thanks again to all.

FYI I have my airbag light on too. I’ve been to the dealer 3 times so far. Read my thread “SRS air bag light”

Thanks...just read. Fingers crossed for ya.

One difference though, this truck also has the seat-belt reminder light which is on constant in Park or reverse...but then starts and remains flashing in Drive...using the driver's seat or both seats "latched". Airbag light is always on constant. Tried "gently" jerking both seat belts to make sure they catch to "simulate impact" or un-stick...no help. Read on two Gen 2 threads with the exact lights on problem about one bad pin on a connector that fixed it...or at least no further posts suggests the problem went away. BUT...are Gen 2s the same? Will update my mother-in-laws Adobe to see if I can get an indexed/searchable version to work on her box like mine, but I have CS5.5 Master...she just has basic. Will isolate and record as much as possible before hand to save the guy's time. I find most of the Dealership sparkys are familiar with most problems if you give them enough input to go along with the DTCs. They like saving time on Warranty cards since they don't make any money on them. ;)

FWIW...In and out less than a hour.

Only current faults...B1785 Occupant Detection and B1650 SRS Airbag. Performed "Zero Point Calibration" on Warranty and all is well...for now at least.

...that's why I said "for now at least." ;)

Kept the Mechanic's VDR printout of all DTCs, current "latched" faults and all recorded "momentary" faults though. It's the one's that latch that get ya. A record of momentary faults help with future trouble shooting as it may relate to this and/or other systems as well.

Nope...never came back. Only problem with Son's truck since was the front diff A.D.D. failed...which was easily handled. Toyota makes very reliable vehicles compared to most...although I did finally break down and buy my almost retired toy last year from Chevy. 2019 ZR1...but that's not a daily driver...well mostly not.
