    Hey all,

I have the 2020 Tacoma SR5! The Etune system has the map/navigation button but says I always need to download an app. I wanted to replace the head unit with something capable of using both apple car play AND utilize intgerated GPS. I know the GPS isn't as good as google/apple maps but I don't have service in the mountains all the time.

I wanted to know if the antenna or connections came standard in all trims of 2020 tacomas and it was a matter of hooking it up to a capable head unit.

I don't know one way or the other, but as an integral GPS unit will require it's own distinct antenna, I would doubt it. That said, a GPS antenna only needs to be about 1x1x.25" so it could potentially be tucked inside the existing fin, or mounted adjacent to it, using the same cable path.

Would finding an OEM antenna on ebay or something and connecting it to the head unit work to get integrated nav working? I just want to be able to navigate whether I have service or not.

I wouldn't expect an OEM Toyota AE to play nicely with an after-market GPS.

There are aftermarket GPS receivers that you can connect, but the thing is, the head unit with integrated nav is a completely different head unit + the nav computer. So you’d likely be replacing the head unit, buying a nav computer, as well as the GPS receiver...
