hey guys, have the weirdest thing that I am trying to pin point. While backing out of my driveway this morning (normal incline) my brakes wouldn't work... literally had to press to the floor in order to finally slow down. When I pulled back up in the driveway they worked fine to put it in park. First time this has happened and it makes 0 sense to me. Anyone have any ideas?

Were you able to repeat it or did it work fine after that?

Yeah, the first time I thought I was just going crazy. Once I pulled it up in the driveway and the brakes worked fine I backed up again and same thing.

I have been looking through other forums and it ranges anywhere from Actuator to Vacuum pump. Not sure honestly, I replaced the brakes about 4 months ago and haven't had any issues since.

Ceramic pads like Akebono are notorious for not gripping when cold. Ceramic has some advantages like low dust, quiet, and being easy on the rotors. Lack of friction when cold is a fairly common issue.

The OEM Advics are ceramic and somewhere in the middle as far as aggressiveness is concerned. Depending on what brand/type of pad you bought, you may have inadvertently got a set that is not very aggressive

Also make sure the rear brakes are adjusted well

EVERY time you back up? Or only on initial startup / cold?

Shows up early Tues morning with an interesting problem, bails after the 2nd post, hasn't been back.

Hope he didn't back over something significant. Or do like a buddy did who lost reverse in his old clunker, and just parked so that he never had to back up.

We're waiting for the rest of the story @Seandude
