Anyone interested in a weekend trip in September/October? Before I start doing a lot of the planning. Probably find a campsite northern NH Friday night, Polly's in Sugar Hill Saturday morning and then make the way down the state through Saturday and Sunday. Similar to @BadDNA 's recent VT trip, I could aim for dirt roads too, aim for some stops along the way waterfalls, breweries, etc, with pancakes each morning being the goal :p Might expand it into a Thursday night through Sunday thing, too.

Worth noting, I have no idea what I'm doing. Might end up making the goal Sunday to summit Monadnock, it's about a 2-2.5 hour summit for those who haven't done it before.

Edit to add: This could also piggyback the drive up Mt. Washington being planned, depending on when that happens. With the time needed to plan this though, most likely looking into October when the auto road might already be closed.

    edit 2020-09-05
So I’ve narrowed dates down that I’ll be up there to Friday (likely) 9/18 to Sunday 9/20. Going up with some friends. Plan to go do a short hike saturday and an early campsite setup Saturday afternoon/early evening, and then a longer hike Sunday and then split off and go home. In the white mountains. Haven’t picked the hikes and waypoints yet but will be doing that soon.

If you get that far north, may I highly, HIGHLY suggest Aprils Maple in Cannan, Vermont? This is my favorite sugar shack cafe' in the North Country.

Well Polly's Pancakes is only about 20 minutes from me, so I can probably at least hit that portion :D

And on that note, you will definitely want to call in advance for reservations. If you don't it can take awhile to get seated, especially with a large group.

yeah that’s even without the rona. I’m thinking the plan will be takeout as much as possible and eat at the vehicles. I’m wanting to do pancakes but could do ice cream. There’s a few normal waterfalls/spots I’d want to hit. And if small enough and enough demand we’d do Mt W but I don’t want to take away from the other planned trip.

I didn't even think of takeout. Polly's does do takeout. And their gingerbread pancakes are freaking awesome

Put a few together so far that I am going to map out. I'm thinking one of the 3 miles on Saturday, we'll have one relatively experienced hiker but inexperienced camper with us. I'm planning to go up with wife and dog and maybe one other Friday night, kip up for the night and Friday AM get together some firewood and potentially scout some other campsites. Meet up Saturday mid morning, knock out a hike, set up camp early. Sunday up relatively early, especially if we're going to summit Mt. W. I put it in there for good measure in case we get interest. Looking like it'll just be my crew, no problems with that.

    Hike Miles out and back
    Arethusa Falls 3.0
    Mt Willard 3.2
    Pint Mountain 3.5
    Peaked and middle mountain 5.0
    Mt Crawford 5.3
    Tecumseh 5.5
    Mt Washington 8.5
